Name: Chief Engineer Derward

Race: Dwarf

Gender: Male

Locations:

Description: Derward is the chief engineer in charge of the miners in the western excavation site. He is left behind when the Flesh renders attack his men, to ensure everyone get out safely, but then can't get out on his own.

In Need of Supplies[edit]

When you reach a dead end in the quest, you find him alongside a group of dwarves. When you talk to him, he will say:

  • Derward: Ah, Jan must've sent you. You have some explosives for me?
  • You: Explosives?
  • Derward: Oh, sorry. Supplies is what Han likes to call them. He's a bit on edge about saboteurs and such since the accident in the southern excavation.
  • You: I see. Here you go.
  • Derward: Much obliged. C'mon, boys, let's set this charge up on that pile of rocks. I smell ancient Threnal gold just around the corner.

Talking to him after delivering the "supplies" will make him say:

  • Derward: What do you want, a medal? Get back to Jan before he sends a rescue party after you. Hah!

The Rescue[edit]

After fighting your way into the ruins, you meet him holding his position in a room deep into the ruins. Talking to him will make him say:

  • Derward: It's good to see you again. After the dust from the explosion settled, we were surrounded by gargoyles. I held them off while my men ran and was forced to hole up in this room.
    • You: Let's get you out of here. (He will follow you)
    • You: Stay here for now. (He will stand ground)
