Name: Foxpaw

Race: Drow Elf

Gender: Male

Location: Fathom the Depths

Fathom the Depths[edit]

When you enter the ziggurat, you will meet him for the first time:

  • Foxpaw: My clan has sent help at last! I thank you, stranger, for aiding us in our time of need.
  • Foxpaw: There is much to explain, but time is short and what you must do is simple. First, free my fellow Raveneye captives. Then lower the magic barriers and take the Planar Fetter.
    • You: Just a moment, I have some questions. Why did the sahuagin take your people captive?
      • Foxpaw: The sahuagin enslaved us and forced us to excavate this ancient structure. They were searching for something here - the Planar Fetter. And yesterday they found it!
      • You: What is the Planar Fetter?
      • Foxpaw: Ages ago the giants imprisoned a powerful invader from another plane within these ruins. The Planar Fetter is the magical seal that kept the invader trapped here. The sahuagin want the Planar Fetter for their own ends. Perhaps they mean to set the invader free!
      • You: That sounds bad. What are these magic barriers, and why do they need to be lowered?
      • Foxpaw: The sahuagin live beneath the sea, so they flooded these ruins to be more comfortable. Yet their slaves breathe air, not water! For that reason the fish-people created the magical barriers you see around us. The barriers keep the water inside the sahuagin's quarters while leaving the areas where my people work dry.
      • Foxpaw: Only after you lower the barriers will you be able to reach the chamber where the Planar Fetter is kept. But when you lower the barriers it will flood the ruins, so please free my people first!
      • You: And exactly what am I supposed to do with this Planar Fetter when I find it?
      • Foxpaw: Take it away from here! If the Planar Fetter is not in the Red Fens, then perhaps the sahuagin will leave my people in peace. So take the Fetter and leave! I care not what you do with it once you have it.
        • You: I will find the Planar Fetter and destroy any sahuagin who stand in my way.
          • Foxpaw: May the blessing of the Raveneye ancestors go with you!
    • You: I will find the Planar Fetter and destroy any sahuagin who stand in my way.
      • Foxpaw: May the blessing of the Raveneye ancestors go with you!

After you lower the magic barrier, you can talk with him again, in an elevated platform by the entrance. If you have not saved the drow slaves, he will tell you:

  • Foxpaw: ????????????

However, if you have saved all drow slaves, he will instead tell you:

  • Foxpaw: Thank you, <race>, for saving my people! Now with the barrier down you can take the Planar Fetter and wreak vengeance on the sahuagin who enslaved us.
  • Foxpaw: You will find the Planar Fetter in a chamber to the east of us. Beyond that is a room where the sahuagin keep their treasure. But beware, for the treasure is protected by a powerful Guardian.
    • You: I will find the Planar Fetter and destroy any sahuagin who stand in my way.
    • You: Treasure? Ooh, tell me about the treasure!
      • Foxpaw: The sahuagin uncovered much treasure during their excavations here. They keep it in a special treasure chamber east of here.
      • Foxpaw: A powerful Treasure Guardian watches over it. I do not know what this Treasure Guardian is, but from the way the sahuagin talk, the Guardian must be a creature of great power. You will have to defeat the Guardian before you can take the treasure.
        • You: I will find the Planar Fetter and destroy any sahuagin who stand in my way.
