If you try to talk to him before finishing the Epic Orchard chain, he will reply:
- Hamond Byre: I'm afraid I require a more seasoned adventurer - perhaps a small army of them.
If you are flagged, however, he will reply:
- Hamond Byre: We've consulted with the wisest of the Gatekeepers and the most brilliant of the Twelve. There can no longer be any doubt at all. What we have feared is true - the Black Abbot has returned to the Ascension Chamber!
- Hamond Byre: We need your help, <name>. Only the best veteran adventurers have any chance of stopping him.
- You: Tell me what I need to do.
- Hamond Byre: First, gather as many of your comrades as you can. It is no small thing to stop a lich as powerful as the Abbot. Then enter the Ascension Chamber and ... well, we are not exactly sure what you'll face. That is why we rely on your vast expertise!
- You: I'll deal with the Black Abbot once and for all! (Bestow raid)
- Hamond Byre: First, gather as many of your comrades as you can. It is no small thing to stop a lich as powerful as the Abbot. Then enter the Ascension Chamber and ... well, we are not exactly sure what you'll face. That is why we rely on your vast expertise!
- You: What took you so long to find him?
- Hamond Byre: There was a vast, powerful spell that kept us from scrying him ... a spell unlike anything we've every seen before. And then just this morning we detected something new, an intense magical presence inside the Ascension Chamber. The Black Abbot had returned! But there's also something else....
- You: I don't think I'm going to like what you're going to say next.
- Hamond Byre: Our augurs detect two magical beings inside the Ascension Chamber - one of them more powerful than the Black Abbot ever was!
- You: Tell me what I need to do. (See above)
- You: Tell me what I need to do.
Talking to him after acquiring the raid, but before completion, will make he say:
- Hamond Byre: Why are you still talking to me? Go to the Ascension Chamber. Your comrades are relying on you!
On completion of raid, he will congratulate you with the following:

After completing the raid and taking the reward, if you talk to him again, he will reply:
