Loghan d'Deneith.jpg

Name: Loghan d'Deneith

Race: Human

Gender: Male

Bestows Quest(s): Gladewatch Outpost Defense

Affiliation(s): House Deneith

Location: The Marketplace, northern side, west from airship tower, by the House Deneith gate

Description: Carberent's Lieutenant

The Marketplace[edit]

If you try to talk to him while at level 3 or lower, he will reply:

  • Loghan d'Deneith: Quiet! I'm working on a plan of attack for my commander, Carberent. And it's brilliant! brilliant, I say! Come back later, and if you're lucky, I might—MIGHT—consider letting you play a minor role.

If you are at level 4 or higher, however, he will reply:

  • Loghan d'Deneith: You there! You have the look of a seasoned veteran. I am Loghan d'Deneith, Carberent's lieutenant and right-hand man, and I'm recruiting a large group of able-bodied fighters for a special mission. Maybe you and some friends are looking for work?
    • You: Maybe so. What are you offering?
      • Loghan d'Deneith: I'm offering a one-time chance to fight for House Deneith—a chance to make your name! You see, my House has been struggling with raiding parties near Gladewatch for some time. They prey on local farmers and passing caravans. Our permanent garrison should be strong enough to wipe out the raiders, but they melt away whenever Gladewatch opens its gates! They can't stand against us, but we can't catch them.
        • You: So why do you need my help?
          • Loghan d'Deneith: To put an end to the raiders, I'm willing to take risks. I've ordered the whole Gladewatch garrison to withdraw to Stormreach—and I've made sure the raiders know about it. They'll surely seize their chance to loot our stores. But your team will secretly be waiting for the attack! They'll expect no resistance, and they'll be slaughtered!
            • You: You're risking the whole outpost on a handful of mercenaries?
              • Loghan d'Deneith: I said it was risky, didn't I? I called in a big favor with Carberent when I ordered the garrison back to Stormreach. My reputation in on the line! But when he finds out that I've solved his bandit problem once and for all, he'll stop wasting my genius on these backwater problems. And I won't forget your help, you can be sure of that! So what do you say?
                • You: It's a crazy plan. But I'll do it!
                  • Loghan d'Deneith: That's the spirit! Like my father always said, 'Fortune favors the fortunate!' Or was that, 'Fate's fickleness is forgotten by fools?' In any case, you'll want to reach Gladewatch by dusk, or you'll miss your chance for glory. Get moving, and good fortune to you! (Bestow quest)
                • You: It's a crazy plan. And I'm not crazy. (Walk away)
            • You: I have other business. Good day to you. (Walk away)
        • You: I have other business. Good day to you. (Walk away)
    • You: Do you know anyone else who's hiring lots of adventurers?
      • Loghan d'Deneith: Loghan frowns. Well, there's Captain Cage at the Lighthouse—I think he's trying to recruit a strong party. But if you're not willing to fight for House Deneith, I fail to see why a scruffy down-on-his-luck mariner would attract your interest!
    • You: I have other business. Good day to you. (Walk away)

Talking to him after acquiring the quest, but before completion, will make him say:

  • Loghan d'Deneith: Loghan greets you heartily. Ready to report to Gladewatch Outpost and destroy those slinking bandits once and for all?
    • You: Of course. Let's get underway!
    • You: I'm not yet ready to leave.

On completion of quest, he will congratulate you with the following:

  • Loghan d'Deneith: Loghan is beside himself with excitement. I can't believe it actually worked! That is to say, of course I had faith in my plan, but I can't believe you actually pulled it off! I had my doubts about you. But it turns out you were just the grunt I needed to bring my tactical genius to life. Good work, soldier!
  • You: I guess there's no strategy so crazy that it can't win sometimes....

After completing the quest and take the reward, if you talk to him again, he will reply:

  • Loghan d'Deneith: Thanks to your ambush, the Gladewatch bandits are but a spent force, a shadow of their former selves. Can you honestly say you could've done it without my tactical brilliance? 'Twas my finest moment!
