House Phiarlan Enclave

If you try to talk to her while at level 2 or lower, she will reply:

• Rouge: Maris d'Phiarlan is the House Phiarlan patron agent. You should speak with him.

If you are at level 3 or higher, however, she will reply:

• Rouge: May I take a moment of your time, <name>? Yes, I know who you are—it is my business to be in the know.
  • You: All right, what do you want?
    • Rouge: You see, the Maleficent Cabal is causing me concern—they're unsanctioned assassins, no less!
    • Rouge: Why am I telling you this? Well, I know of your reputation. I could use your assistance in breaking these so-called assassins. Tell me, would you consider becoming an operative for House Phiarlan?
    • Rouge: The pay is rather handsome, if I do say so myself.
      • You: All right, I accept. What mission do you have for me? (Bestow chain)
      • You: (House Phiarlan Patron Rank) Interesting... well, I've met your type before. You're a Phiarlan spy. (See below)
      • You: What can you tell me about this Maleficent Cabal?
        • Rouge: They appeared only a few weeks ago... and they vanish like smoke after each attack. From their attire, one would think that they are entertainers...
        • Rouge: Yes, unsanctioned assassins dressed as entertainers... many believe we in House Phiarlan are responsible. I for one suspect one of the traveling shows that rent our venues—but let us not make assumptions without proof.
        • Rouge: There are also the Tieflings in the Maleficent Cabal... when the Devils attacked Stormreach, Tieflings formed the backbone of their army. The last thing we need is a new Devil foothold....

    • Rouge: I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that you've seen through my cover—your accomplishments are why I am recruiting you, after all.
    • Rouge: But please, I am not merely a spy, I am a spymaster! oversee multiple operations here in Stormreach, and I require your assistance to secure the city's safety.
    • Rouge: All of this is strictly secret, of course. If you tell others of me... well, ousting an intelligence agent is a serious offense against House Phiarlan.

Phiarlan Carnival: A Small Problem

After getting the chain, she will assign you your first objective:

• Rouge: In the past, the maleficent Cabal has struck at Phiarlan's most sensitive points. I fear House Phiarlan's newest stageplay will be next -- The Fall of Truth.
• Rouge: Such plays are the source of Phiarlan's power—the power to sway the hearts of the people! If something were to befall the play, it would akin to destroying Deneith's armies or to fuzzy accounting for Kundarak banks.
• Rouge: You must make certain the play is a success! Begin by speaking with Glitter Underhill, the playwright at the Livewood Theatre. I will tell her that you are her new producer.
  • You: Produce a play? A little unusual, but I accept. (Advance chain)
  • You: What can you tell me about this Maleficent Cabal? (See above)

After you successfully completes A Small Problem, she will say:

• Rouge: My sources in the Stormreach Chronicle tell me that "The Fall of Truth" can expect a four-star review.
• Rouge: Congratulations, <name>, I had no doubt you were the right <race> for the job!
• Rouge: Now that Phiarlan's influence in this city is solidified, we can ramp up operations against the Maleficent Cabal directly.
• You: All right, what's our next step in defeating the Cabal?

Phiarlan Carnival: Partycrashers

She will then assign you your second objective:

• Rouge: The Cabal's previous targets shared two commonalities:
• Rouge: - First, their deaths embarrassed House Phiarlan.
• Rouge: - Second, the victims provided much material support to Phiarlan's interests... money, arms, and such.
• Rouge: As it happens, House Phiarlan is hosting a grand gala tonight, attended by the wealthiest of our supporters.
• Rouge: Do you see the cause for my concern? One of my agents, Cyan, will assist you. Keep the Maleficent Cabal from disrupting the festivities!
  • You: All right, I'll go meet this Cyan. (Advance chain)
  • You: What can you tell me about this Maleficent Cabal? (See above)

After you successfully completes Partycrashers, she will say:

• Rouge: Well now adter the Maleficent Cabal's assault on Phiarlan Hall, I finally managed to convince Viceroy Morian to put a hiatus on Phiarlan social activities.
• Rouge: Do you understand the implication of this?
• Rouge: We need no longer be concerned about protecting targets from Cabal attacks. We can now switch to the offensive. You will help us track the Tieflings to their nest and bring the wrath of Phiarlan down on their heads!
• You: All right, what's our next step in defeating the Cabal?

Phiarlan Carnival: The Snitch

She will then assign you your third objective:

• Rouge: In the last few days, some interesting evidence has surfaced of someone selling supplies to the Maleficent Cabal. This person could provide us proof of where the Cabal is based, so we must secure this information posthaste.
• Rouge: One of my trackers has located the supplier, and I would have you take over from here. Ochre in the House Phiarlan Enclave will tell you where to find him.
  • You: Very well, I'll go immediately. (Advance chain)

After you successfully completes The Snitch, she will say:

• Rouge: Well now, their supplier has perished, and now Ochre is on the Maleficent Cabal's trail. You've accomplished your objectives rather nicely.
• Rouge: If you remain so diligent, the Cabal's collapse will be inevitable.
• You: All right, what's our next step in defeating the Cabal?

Phiarlan Carnival: Under the Big Top

She will then assign you your final objective:

• Rouge: With the intelligence you've gathered, we finally have approval to strike at the Maleficent Cabal's base of operations. This shall be your final mission, to neutralize them permanently.
• Rouge: I have instructed one of my agents to give you logistical support. Speak with Cerise in the House Phiarlan Enclave before you attack.
  • You: Then, I'll go put an end to the Cabal.
  • You: What can you tell me about this Maleficent Cabal? (See above)

After you successfully completes Under the Big Top, she will say:

• Rouge: The Cabal must have planned to undermine all the dragonmarked Houses in Stormreach—but they chose to begin with Phiarlan. The poor fools would have had better luck against the buffoons at House Deneith.
• Rouge: All the subtle maneuvering and skill the Maleficent Cabal has shown in the past must have come from Malicia. Now that you've removed her, Phiarlan agents are quietly eliminating what's left of the Cabal.
• Rouge: They will not survive the night. Well done.
• You: Is that really the end of the Maleficent Cabal?
• Rouge: Your work is done, and you may rest. Shortly, all that will remain of the Maleficent Cabal will be urban legend.
• Rouge: For your part in this, I show my gratitude.

After completing the chain and take the reward, if you talk to her again, she will reply:

• Rouge: The Cabal must have planned to undermine all the dragonmarked Houses in Stormreach—but they chose to begin with Phiarlan. The poor fools would have had better luck against the buffoons at House Deneith.
• Rouge: It does not matter now. without the Succubus to lead them, the remaining Tieflings were quietly eliminated by our agents. The Maleficent Cabal is now just another fictional urban legend.
