Talk:A Study in Sable

From DDO wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Hi. I made a walkthrough for my guild and posted it here since there wasn't one. I haven't done a wiki before, but if this is information that is useful, I'd be happy to work on formatting or clean it up. Or someone else can be feel free to cut out, organize, or format it. Feel free to send a tell in game or by mail --- Karatos of Cannith

A Study in Sable - page requires updating[edit]

I'm unable to edit the page to revise the page with correct directions and to incorporate other minor corrections required.

- Under "Guest List" heading, the name Sir Chadrus Thruling is a typo, in game displays Sir Chadrus Thurling. (on editing, both the tables disappear)
- References to first floor are incorrect and need renaming to ground floor. (I spent nearly an hour running around on the first floor upstairs when the wiki article actually meant the ground floor)
- References to second floor are incorrect and need renaming to first floor. (I spent more time running around trying to find markers mentioned as located on the second floor when they were on the first floor)
- References to a "northwest part of the second floor" need correction as the staircase to the 2nd floor (i.e. attic with access to roof area) is actually accessed just to the EAST of true North, with the staircase rising towards to North West. The vague reference had me looking for a staircase accessible from the first floor rooms in the North West and is completely misleading.

I stopped fact checking after these bigger issues, but the page really needs a makeover, as it is not editable with the visual editor or beta features.
The "Item:" references in the "Area List" heading is confusing. The table explains roughly where these quest items may found, but gives absolutely no indication as to which item is to be used on which Guest NPC. If I remember correctly, the "Scrap's Chew Toy" worked on Alyk Glenweir and the "Rat trap" (capital T required) worked on Dareon Krenner. There is no indication to a ddowiki visitor as to which Area Item matches with which Guest NPC and whether the Area Items are consistent or changes on each new quest instance. The Area List items furthermore requires clarification, since the Guest List items in the table below cannot be used whatsoever without the Area List items being given to the right Guest NPC's.

  • Why are you unable to revise the page? What visual editor or beta feature? As far as editing anything related to items, you need to go to the individual item pages and make changes there to update those as the data is pulled dynamically by DPL. Please feel free to join the Discord chat server for a more real time discussion and to get help with being able to edit. :)  👟 ShoeMaker (Contribs • Message) 👟 00:41, June 29, 2020 (EDT)
Hi, I have added a link to the subarticle that you need to edit. A word of caution, I don't understand the mechanic of the quest completely, but the quest is partially randomized, i.e., just because Scrap's Chew Toy worked on Alyk Glenweir in your instance of the dungeon, when you run the quest again, things can change. Good luck. -- Cru121 (ContribsMessage) 02:49, June 29, 2020 (EDT)
