About the stacking mechanism[edit]

There's something I can't grasp yet concerning the stack mechanism. The Bleed Them Out description says: "Deal +1/+2/+3[W] damage and on successful damage causes your opponent to bleed. The bleed effect can stack up to 5 times. (Cooldown: 6 seconds). Note: Bleed deals 1d6 damage every 2 seconds for 14 seconds."

Here's my (dubious?) take: since bleed lasts 14 s., but the cooldown of the effect is 6s., then it can't stack more than thrice (with luck). A 2nd successful hit can happen only after the cooldown of 6s. (stacking with the previous effect during 8s). 6s. after that hit, a 3rd hit can happen with 3 fx stacking: one with 2s. left (at most 1 bleed), another with 8s left, and the current with 14 s. left. Another hit after 6 secs, and we're again having one left with 2s. the previous with 8s. left plus the current one for 14s., and so on until the end of times. Thus, the bleed effect stacks with itself at most 3 times, not 5. That said for the most perfect situation where each hit happens exactly after the minimal cooldown delay --HawkFest (ContributionsMessage) 11:17, March 18, 2015 (EDT)

  • I'm pretty sure each hit will refresh and add stacks. Plus, I believe TWF and Doublestrike will help build stacks. --Thalone 18:49, March 18, 2015 (EDT)
Yeah that must be it: it stacks at most 5 times considering those feats that can influence the stacking. It makes sense....
EDIT: Out of my mind :
  • The number of "strikes" per second is irrelevant, since we're considering that there's a fixed cooldown delay (Hitting every 6 seconds or every second should not make a difference in the number of boost activations), thus doublestrike sould not have a shot at it.
  • This is supposed to be an Action Boost, however we could consider that it acts "per strike from a distinct weapon": in that sense the line of Two Weapons Fighting feats could play along, and indeed we'd be around up to 5-6 in stack at most. --HawkFest (ContributionsMessage) 10:05, March 19, 2015 (EDT)
  • Multiple rogues doing this attack to the same mob would only be able to achieve 5 stacks collectively. ;>jamvaru (ContribsMessage) 02:51, September 3, 2016 (EDT)
