Out of date[edit]

I think a lot of the data on this page is out of date. In particular the lightning-split soarwood (the most sought after item) is not available at any of the suggested places that are available F2P. The only easy (fast, no fighting) place I found high level collectables like soarwood was Path to Madness.

It seems like collectables follow a set of rules which might be worth confirming.

(1) it seems like anywhere that you can get one collectable from a set, you can get the other two -- in other words when you draw a collectable it first determines what set you get, and then determines the rarity. There's no place where you can, say, only draw commons but never a rare. This seems pretty firm. If so the list of sources could be cut down in size. It ought to be possible to calculate the probabilities of drawing a rare (something like 67%-25%-8%)
(2) adventurer packs and rubble give all possible sets for the level of the dungeon, and other collectables give a fixed subset of the sets available. If this is true then it ought to be possible to say what collectable drops (alchemist table, bookshelf etc) drop what sets.
(3) it seems like there are three broad categories of dungeons that give low, mid or high level collectables. Soarwood for example is a high level collectable and you don't seem to be able to get it in a dungeon lower than about level 10. But this is true of about ten sets. Maybe 4 sets at low level (up to about level 3 dungeons), nine sets at mid, and ten at high level. An adventurer pack would therefore give either 4, 9 or 10 sets according to the level of the dungeon.
(4) however it is not as simple as level of dungeon > X means you get these sets. Xoriat Cypher and Path to Madness (both level 8) drop high level sets. The adventurer's pack by the sirens in Path to madness can be run faster than once a minute and gets any of the high sets even on casual play - eg. Lightning-split soarwood, Silver Flame Hymnal, Fragrant Drowshood.
(5) In fact some collectable sites within the same dungeon drop different levels. Enemy Within (level 11) has a rubble that you can reach without any fighting but it is mid level. The next collectable (I think it's a crude altar) is high level. In general it seems the dungeon level is a good guide though.
(6) given that collectable drop can drop N different sets are all equally likely to drop? The alternative hypothesis is that some sets are "common" sets, and possibly some sets are rare. If there are common sets then Forensic (skull fragment), Pigment (glittering dust) and Talisman (amulet of the lost empire) may be common, appearing about 2-3 times more often. Hard to say without 100s more data. At any rate if you are after a specific collectable, it will take longer from an Adventurer pack or rubble, than from a site which only drops a few different sets.

Comments apply to a 14th level wizard running mostly normal / casual (premium account). Does it matter? Probably not. Elajna - 19:11, 23 March 2014 (EDT)

Low level has a chance too[edit]

Hello, ty for pointing that, the colectables are a little mess and indeed need to have a revision, however the afirmation about the Lightning-Split Soarwood is not correct, i have confirmed that at least, from the list of quests, it droops from the cabinet in the "throne room" of assault on splinterskull, the rubble on The tide turns, and The Xorian Cipher this is just anecdotal and i will try to get a picture of it asap.

The point 1 of your theory is acurate. About the point number 2, alchemist tables usualy droop colectables for Xovun Chalk, Peta Flashpin, and some other from the deneith ward collectors.

For the point 3, well as i stated before the soarwood does droop from low level quests, i dont know if fragant Fragrant Drowshood is considerated a high level colectable but it does droop from any purple mushroom albeit at a low rate, ususaly you would get a sour darkcap or other fungi.

A good place to farm for Lightning-split soarwood, Silver Flame Hymnal, Fragrant Drowshood is (again) assault on splinterskull quest, you have two purple mushrooms near the entrace, those can get you the Drowshood, near the hobgoblin bell there is a boockshelf that can droop tomes/letters (lost song of cyre, house sealed letters, Silver flame hymnals, romantoc sonnets and more) last, the cabinet on the throne has a chance for Soarwood and if you dont mind the run, there is another mushroom in the spider caves and one near the shrine ( almost on the exit to the inner fortress) Sforza

I think the places you mentioned are not available to free-to-play players. To add to the idea of three tiers, I guess at just level 14 I don't see much of it but around level 15 dungeon it looks like another tier where you get candles as common drops. Now because with F2P there's a big gap around the level of 10-14 for dungeons, (and some of the few that are in that range have no collectables) that would mean not many F2P people getting collectables of the third tier, and if most players are F2P (is that true?) this might explain why soarwood is hard to find for most players.

I did find one collectables set that appears to be a drop from both tier 2 and tier 4. The (withered) cryptmoss one I think it was. So I can get it from the moss in "Lords of Dust" (level 16) and also pretty much any F2P quest between level 4 and 9. But it didn't appear in the Path To Madness. So perhaps the model is flawed.

Ideally the page would be something like, (list of sets of collectables) x (this set drops from these different collectables - bookcase/fungus/etc, and the dungeon has to be level range X-Y, and because of the other stuff that can drop the odds of getting this set is 1 in N, and here some examples of where you can get it but see the maps for details) Oh and add if the set drops from a mob type. Only giant type monsters are recorded as dropping anything currently. Elajna (ContributionsMessage) 15:46, March 24, 2014 (EDT)

Some free, some not so.[edit]

The only f2p places where i have seen purple mushrooms (that is a chance for drowshwoods) is the explorer area of Atraxia´s Heaven, to be exact on the troll and wildman caves. I understand that f2p acounts wont have acces to some colectables but to be honest the most needed on (lets say) cannith crafting are avaliable for everyone and the most rare colectables are actually so hard to get that the best farming place is Auction House, this sheer rarity is the reason of the lacking of them among the player population.

There are some nodes that droop some very specific colectables, like the ones in the f2p quest diplomatic impunity, where all the white mushrooms drop colectables for the Lordsmarch Plaza colector.

A node drops specifical kind of colectable, you wont see mosss patchs drooping sweet whitecaps, powdered blood or the ones like that, like you wont see white mushrooms droping Silver Flame hymnals, if you can get a kind of colectable from a node you can get the other two that you can turn on the same colector. I dont really understand the Tier you talk abot, you mean the rarest colectables?

The colectable pages ( at least the more usefull/rare/ valuable) Indeed have a list quests where it droops and a list of the spots where you get them.

Getting a % chance of a colectable is way more work than it is worth, but it can be done if you have free time you could do some research but in general: every colector can trade for 3 types of colectable, a common, a moderate and a rare, the rare being a, well, very rare droop, on a arbitrary number the cance would be 85%/10%/5% for them to droop, keep in mind that more than one kind can droop from the same node so that make the chances to get the rare colectables very small.

As you stated, some monsters droop specific colectables, like kobolds ( they handle you colectables for goodscuttle), hobgoblins ( they drop ones for Davyd Turner), giants (trolls, ogres and giants, ofc)droop amulets, there are several colectables that are a monster doop only like elemental ingots, and planar talismans. All of those will have a descrition stating what kind of monster droop them, will be a lt of work so any help is apreciated.

I dont know if i was clear but feel free to make add more topics and point any error that i might had. Sforza

The Four Tiers[edit]

Comments refer to the quests available to f2p, and this is an unproven hypothesis. For any given collectable drop site (eg a given bookshelf in a certain dungeon) the drops will always be from one specific tier, and will never drop anything from any other tier. The tier is roughly determined by the dungeon level but there's a lot of wiggle room, and a dungeon can contain collectable drop sites that drop different tiers. eg the easy to get to rubble in Enemy Within (11) is tier 2, but the next crude altar you get to is tier 3.

(1) Tier one consists of the four collectable sets with collectors in the Harbor. But tier 1 drops are limit by dungeon level (approximately) not geography. About level 1-3.
(2) Tier two consists of the seven collectable sets with collectors in the Marketplace except for the Morbid Curios set (Funerary Token, Mark of the Keeper, necromantic Gem). They appear mostly in the f2p dungeons level 4-9.
(3) Tier three consists of ten of the collectable sets with collectors in the various four enclaves. They are Apparatus, Document (Cryptic Message), Lyric, Beetle, Fungus (Sour Darkcap), Talisman, Medicinal Spore, Intelligence, Omen and Soarwood sets. They appear in the f2p dungeons level 10-15 maybe.
(4) Tier four consists of (at least) three of the collectable sets with collectors in the various four enclaves. They are Ritual Paraphernalia, Text and Drow Artifact. It also includes the two sets in the Lordsmarch Plaza.
That leaves the following seven sets: Morbid Curios (from undead mobs), Elemental Essence (only from elemental mobs?), Infernal Essence (only from evil outsider mobs?), the fungus set with Ruddy Fungus, the Herb set (eg Lily Petals), the Necropolis set and the Red Fens set. I don't have much data on tier 4 so maybe some appear in tier 4 but I haven't seen them pop up. or perhaps there's a tier 5? What stuff typically drops from level 20+ dungeons?

Presumably the mushrooms in Diplomatic Immunity (level 12), are tier 4. Only the swaying mushroom set from Lordsmarch Plaza appear from mushrooms in tier 4 so you'd be guaranteed to get the same thing each time. The other sets in tier 4 aren't really mushroom material. That's true in tier 1 too, but the other tiers have more than one possible set dropped from a mushroom I think.

Now if this is true then I can tell the tier of a collectable site with a single drop. And on that basis I can rule out the possibility of ever being able to get some of the drops listed from some of the sources listed on the page. To get these lists I ran only of the order of 3-400 drops so I might have missed something. And as I say I have found an exception which is that the cryptmoss set has appeared as a drop in Lords of Dust's (16) moss piles so does that mean it is in tier 4 and tier 2? But it seems notable that running an Adventurer's Pack in Path to Madness 100 times never dropped even a single common of any of the tier 2 sets, whereas running 40-50 times against rubble in Purge the Heretics (6), Tear of Dharkaan (7), Made To Order (11) and a f2p 4th and 5th level dungeon I didn't note the names of (but were probably listed on this page as sources of soarwood), in each of the five cases I found commons from all seven tier 2 sets, but no drops from either tier 1 or tier 3. Elajna (ContributionsMessage) 00:49, March 26, 2014 (EDT)

It looks like Lords of Dust (16) has three types of collectable site that look similar; fungus and moss (that use the exact same graphic) and mold (which is similar but has red spots not blue). The two moss patches appear to be tier 2 while the five fungus and one mold patch seem to be tier 4. The rest of the collectable sites (bookcase and 3 adventure packs) seem tier 4. Mob drops[edit]

Yeah the page mentions drops for undead, reptiles, giants, gargoyles, elementals and demons. That still leaves a lot of other monster types. The hypothesis here is that if any mob drops from a set then all the mobs of the same type throughout the rest of the game drop the same type. However it seems like undead in the necropolis might drop slightly different stuff? and also gargoyles are monstrous humanoids but I doubt they all drop the same thing...? so exceptions to the rule. Elajna (ContributionsMessage) 00:49, March 26, 2014 (EDT)

I have colected many infernal spore/talisman/crystals from giants, trolls, hobgoblins and undeads in various mid-lvl quests. Also morbids from monsters that arent undead, most notabily funerary tokens droping from kobolds in low level quests and necromantic gems from hobgoblins. I dont recall picking a elemental set colectable from other source than colectable bags from defeated elementals and some nodes, but those have a chance for any colectable.
