Overview[edit]

An encounter in the Orchard of the Macabre. You approach some Silver Flame members facing a human commoner. Talking to them will tell you that the soldiers suspect of him being a werewolf. And because of you, now the poor man have a protector. Or not.

Objectives[edit]

Help the Silver Flame determine if the suspect is actually a werewolf.

Rewards[edit]

Encounter[edit]

  • Lieutenant: It is time to die. Say your final words.
  • Commoner: I beg of you sir, let me go and I shall be forever in your debt.
  • Lieutenant: Don't be afraid boy. This blade shall save you from the torment of the mangy curse.
  • Lieutenant: Do not resist. The pain will be brief.

Talking to the Silver Flame Lieutenant will give you those options:

  • Lieutenant: What do you want?
    • You: What are you doing to this poor man?
  • Lieutenant: Don't be fooled by the looks of this scrawney man. This camp was overrun by a pack of werewolves, a problem far too common these days. They strive only for destruction and chaos. The other members of this camp were dragged off, no doubt to become a moonlight feast. Just look at the destruction around you. The Lycanthrope plague is taking hold of him even as we speak.
  • Lieutenant: Talk to him and see for yourself.

Talking to the commoner will give you those options:

  • Commoner: Please, I beg of you to help me. These men are insane.
    • You: What happened here? (You will get one of those dialogues)
      • Commoner: I was out gathering more wood for the fire. Screams tore through the woods, followed by howls. I dropped everything and ran as fast as I could. When I got back there was nothing but destruction. My family was gone.
      • Commoner: The soldiers; they were on me before I knew it, beating me and destroying my camp. They've got the wrong guy.
    • You: Why are your eyes darting around so much? (You will get one of those dialogues)
      • Commoner: I'm being held at the threat of a blade in my neck and the woods crawl with evil beasts. What man wouldn't be nervous?
      • Commoner: These zealots will murder us both. You best be plotting your escape as well.
    • You: Why is your shirt bloodied? (You will get one of those dialogues)
      • Commoner: The Soldiers beat me and kicked me with their metal boots. They've left me with many wounds, and I think some broken ribs.
      • Commoner: The answer is more mundane than you might suspect. It is nothing more than the blood of the butchered animal prepared for supper.
      • Commoner: I... It is a dark night. I...uh... I fell... I must have cut myself on a stone. It is nothing for you to worry about.

After talking to him, you return to the lieutenant and is given two options:

  • Lieutenant: Now you see, he must be put down.

Taking the Silver Flame side[edit]

  • You: There is proof enough for me. Allow me to do the honors.
    • Lieutenant at Arms: Dispatch him quickly, there is no need for suffering.

Once the commoner is killed, a pack of werewolves arrive.

  • Lieutenant at Arms: His brethren have returned! To arms!

Once all werewolves are defeated, the encounter is completed.

Taking the Commoner side[edit]

  • You: The only thing I see is a man who is being tormented by the Silver Flame. Leave him be.
    • Lieutenant: Then you stand with him in his fate. Kneel for your death. Join me in battle, brothers! (Start a fight)

Once the Silver Flame is defeated, the encounter is completed. You can talk to the commoner afterwards.

  • Commoner: I cannot thank you enough! Those men showed up out of no where. They destroyed my camp and accused me of being a werewolf. I do not know what drove their madness, but I surely would have been dead if you hadn't shown up.
