From DDO wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search
Tomb of the Burning Heart is the 1st quest in the Litany of the Dead Part 1 story arcIcon tooltip.pngStory arcs  are chains of quests that make up a story line.
Completing everything in a story arc often yields a nice reward.
.
The first four quests can be completed in any order to unlock The Bloody Crypt.
Tomb of the Burning Heart • Tomb of the Crimson Heart • Tomb of the Immortal Heart • Tomb of the Sanguine Heart • The Bloody Crypt

The martial strategists that built this tomb made it nigh impenetrable. Its legions serve as eternal guards, vigilant and deadly.

Tips and Misc

  • This can be the longest, or be the shortest of the 4 tombs required to unlock The Bloody Crypt.
  • As soon as you enter, the hallway will split in two directions with 2 pressure plates on each side.
    • Four bodies standing simultaneously on top of them is required to progress further into the dungeon.
      • This part can be solo'd with a total combination of 3 hirelings, pets, or Charmed enemies, plus yourself. However, with the lack of control of pets and charms, hirelings may be preferred, as they may be commanded to remain stationary. Enemy corpses, though temporary, can also trigger the plates.
      • Some classes can solo this dungeon without gold seal hirelings. To cover all four pressure pads, station a hireling and class-controlled pet (Pale Master's Skeletal Knight, Druid's Wolf Companion, or Artificer's Iron Defender) on the right hand corridor pads, while you go to the left corridor. Stand on one pad and summon a monster directly on to the other pad, or run to the other pad just as your summons appears where you were standing.
        • Note that Flame Turrets are stationary and as such can therefore be used more reliably than other summons. (Flame Turret is rare scroll, not available from a vendor.)
      • If you can cast Flesh to Stone, lure some spawned undeads to stand on a left-side plate and then cast the spell. Do it again with another undead in the remaining left-side plate. Now, go to the right-side plates, where you can turn another undead to stone on a plate or place either a hireling or class-controlled pet. With this third plate active, turn on the last plate by standing on it.
      • A Cannith crafted: Petrify Runestone, could potentially be used for holding one wight in place.
      • Another easy way to solo this part is to get a cleric hireling with "turn undead" command. First, lure some wights onto one of left-side plates, make hireling turn them so they are standing on it, then make hireling stand on another left-side plate. Go to right-side plates, kill one of the wights on one plate and quickly stand on the other.
        • Flower, level 7 Cleric hireling, can turn undead cowering on the plates. Seela Mooncrest, level 9 bard hireling, can fascinate undead on the plates; Zefyn Kurimas, level 16 sorcerer hireling, can turn undead to stone on a plate.
      • If(!) you manage to kill wights when they are on the pressure plates, they will activate that one. You must get 3 plates activated quick enough to step on the 4th before the corpses dissipate.
    • Once the pressure plates are activated, the party is separated for the first half of the dungeon, and will be reunited near the central shrine switch rooms. It is not necessary to clear both wings; however, it is possible to enter the other wing from the central shrine room.
    • From there the whole party will progress north through another skeletal archer gauntlet (however, this one has dart traps shooting down the path).
    • After you clear this room, you will enter Bekenkhonsu's Tomb.
    • Once Bekenkhonsu is killed, the quest is completed.
  • There are 2 secret rooms on both paths, right after the large square rooms with many Skeleton archers. The entrances are inside the chambers where Wights swarm out. Inside the secret rooms, you may find Lieutenant Keating and Captain Davion.
  • Inside the large square rooms, there can be secret doors (not searchable) with sarcophagi inside. The doors open when you kill the skeleton archers or when you kill the wights that come for you at the end of the room.
