Alignment Burst

From DDO wiki
(Redirected from Unholy Burst)
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Axiomatic Burst, Anarchic Burst, Holy Burst and Unholy Burst weapons cause 2d6 of damage to a foe of the opposing alignment on a successful hit, and an extra (critical multiplier+1)d6 on a critical hit. A weapon with an alignment that's opposite to a target bypasses the corresponding damage reduction of the target.

Alignment weapons are meant to be wielded by a character of the same alignment, or neutral alignment. If a weapon with an alignment/alignment burst effect opposite that of a characters alignment is equipped, the character will suffer a negative level as long as he keeps that weapon as equipped. Example: A lawful character can use axiomatic weapons without issue but if he equips an anarchic one, he will suffer a temporary negative level until he un-equips it.

Note: Randomly-generated and named handwraps have a bug that does not affect the player should they use handwraps of opposite alignment. That is, Monks (who must be of Lawful alignment) aren't affected when wearing anarchic handwraps such as the Unstable Handwraps. Other weapons, such as anarchic quarterstaffs or crafted anarchic handwraps will give a negative level to a Monk if wielded.

Axiomatic Burst

Type: Prefix
Base price modifier: +3 for random loot; +4 for Cannith Crafting
Effect: An axiomatic weapon is lawfully aligned and infused with the power of law. It makes the weapon law-aligned and thus bypasses the corresponding damage reduction. It deals an extra 2 to 12 points of damage against all of chaotic alignment and an extra 3 to 18 on a critical hit for weapons with a x2 critical multiplier, 4 to 24 for a x3 multiplier and 5 to 30 for a x4 multiplier. Chaotic characters wielding this weapon suffer a negative level.

Anarchic Burst

Type: Prefix
Base price modifier: +3 for random loot; +4 for Cannith Crafting
Effect: An anarchic weapon is chaotically aligned and infused with the power of chaos. It makes the weapon chaos-aligned and thus bypasses the corresponding damage reduction. It deals an extra 2 to 12 points of damage against all of lawful alignment and an extra 3 to 18 on a critical hit for weapons with a x2 critical multiplier, 4 to 24 for a x3 multiplier and 5 to 30 for a x4 multiplier. Lawful characters wielding this weapon suffer a negative level.

Holy Burst

Type: Prefix
Base price modifier: +3 for random loot; +4 for Cannith Crafting
Effect: A holy weapon is imbued with holy power. This power makes the weapon good-aligned and thus bypasses the corresponding damage reduction. It deals an extra 2 to 12 points of damage against all of evil alignment and an extra 3 to 18 on a critical for weapons with a x2 critical multiplier, 4 to 24 for a x3 multiplier, and 5 to 30 for x4 multiplier.

Cannith Crafting: Requires Purified Eberron Dragonshard Fragment and Mark of the Silver Flame to craft bound at level 72.

Unholy Burst

Type: Prefix
Base price modifier: +4 for Cannith Crafting
Effect: An unholy weapon is imbued with unholy power. This power makes the weapon evil-aligned and thus bypasses the corresponding damage reduction. It deals an extra 2 to 12 points of damage against all of good alignment and an extra 3 to 18 on a critical for weapons with a x2 critical multiplier, 4 to 24 for a x3 multiplier, and 5 to 30 for x4 multiplier.
