Cooldown

From DDO wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

This is a property of active abilities/spells in DDO that determines how long you must wait before casting a spell (or using a feat / skill / enhancement) again. While on cooldown, the ability is grayed out on the toolbar. There's a visual indicator as the cooldown is clearing, and you can also enable countdown in seconds (in the Options panel).

Many spells of the same class and level have the same cooldown, although some spells have much longer cooldowns. Spells with long cooldowns include all symbol spells (EG: Symbol of Pain), and Dimension Door.

The standard cooldown for Artificer, Druid, Cleric, Favored Soul, Wizard, and Bard spells is 1.5 + 0.5*level seconds. Sorcerers have reduced cooldown as a class feature, and their standard delay is 1.25 + 0.25*level. Rangers and paladins have longer cooldowns of 1 + 1*level seconds.

Clicky items, potions and scrolls also have a fixed cooldown lasting a few seconds, which cannot be decreased in any way. Using any clicky item puts all other items of this kind on cooldown. Some rare items may have longer cooldowns (for example, the Key to Eveningstar teleport item, which has a cooldown of 1 hour.) Eternal flasks all share the same 10 minute cooldown.

Note: Every usable ability and spell in DDO also triggers the minimum globally-shared cooldown of 1 second.

Decreasing cooldown[edit]

Spells
  • Arcane Alacrity: epic past life feat, stacks 3 times, decreases cooldown for spells by 3 / 6 / 10%.
  • Dragonspeed : While in your Attune the Arcane Destiny Mantle, your spell cooldowns are reduced by 10%, you gain the Mobile Spellcasting feat, and you have a 30% enhancement bonus to movement speed.
  • Shadowcaster: Multiselector: Shadowcaster: -10% Spell Cooldowns. Immunity to Energy Drain.
Misc
  • Quick Draw reduces the cooldown triggered by switching weapons, eliminates the delay between casting and attacking, or the delay after activating Action Boost
  • Items with Linguistics enchantment reduce the cooldown of social skills

Effects that increase cooldown for spells[edit]

Note: Effects that increase (or decrease) the cooldown of spells do not affect SLAs.
