Euphonia's Hat Box

From DDO wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Euphonia's Hat Box is one of the crafting interfaces, which appear similar to open chests, available for the Treasure of Crystal Cove special event. The hat box is located on the ship in the Smuggler's Rest, to the right of Euphonia Teles and her Barter Box, while the event is active.

The hat box is used exclusively for purchasing and upgrading Pirate Hats. Most other Crystal Cove loot is available from the nearby Euphonia's Barter Box. Previous (legacy) version of Crystal Cove rewards are available using the Dusty Old Treasure of Crystal Cove barter box; upgrades from old to new is done via Conversions of Crystal Cove barter box.

Overview

You can purchase pirate hats from the Euphonia's Hat Box for Doubloons. These bartered hats are Bound to CharacterIcon tooltip.pngBound to Character: This item is Bound to Character. 3 styles of these hats are also sold via the DDO Store for 200-400 DDO Points - those are Bound to AccountIcon tooltip.pngBound to Account: This item is Bound to Account (and remain Bound to Account when upgraded).

Hats have 4 types of upgrades available to them, and each version of hat can equally be upgraded in any or all 4 lines of upgrades. The different hats differ only in appearance and initial "Scallawag's luck", one of the 4 types of upgrades. The cheapest version of pirate's hat, the Swabby's Kerchief, with all the Scallywag's Luck upgrades below will be functionally identical to the most expensive, the Dread Admiral's Tricorne, but will only cost 2000 Copper, 750 Silver, 375 Gold Doubloons (vs. 2,500 C, 1,250 S, 625 G). Thus the only final difference is cosmetic. Since the Doubloons are relatively easy to come by (simply by killing pirates outside the challenge), you may wish to just pick the one you think looks the best.

The 4 lines of upgrades, which are all available to all hats, are:

  • Scallawag's Luck
This increases the amount of doubloons gathered while hunting pirates in Smuggler's Rest by 10-35%. It does not increase doubloons gathered outside Smuggler's Rest while under the effects of Pirate's Grog.
Different styles of hats start with different levels of Scallawag's luck (see below), but all hats can be upgraded to +35%, the maximum.
  • Crystal Rush (aka Kobold Buffs)
This gives one of a variety of possible buffs (your choice) to the kobolds in the Crystal Cove Challenge as well as any other Challenges.
  • Adventuring Bonus
This is a standard item enchantment, consisting of an Ability boost, Fortification, False Life, Wizardry, or other enchantment. This works both in the challenge and in all questing. This enchantment sets a minimum level for the hat.
  • Skilled Seaman
This gives a skill bonus to the item, in any one skill of your choice except Spellcraft or Use Magical Device. This works both in the challenge and in all questing. This enchantment sets a minimum level for the hat.

Available hats[edit]

All hats are (equally) upgradeable. All hats bartered from Euphonia's Hatbox are Bound to Character. Pirate Hats purchased via the DDO Store are Bound to Account. (Non-Pirate Store hats are not eligible for these upgrades!)

    • This Bandana makes you want to go ARRRGH. Wearing it will increase your chance to get Doubloons by 10%.
  • Freebooter's Bandana (a striped bandana) - 1,000 Copper Doubloons

  • Corsair's Skullcap (a striped bandana with skull brooch) - 1,500 Copper, 750 Silver Doubloons
    • The skull shows everyone that you're not the one to be messed with. Arr! Wearing it will increase your chance to get Doubloons by 20%.
  • Captain's Chapeau (a feathered hat) - 2,000 Copper, 1,000 Silver Doubloons

  • Admiral's Tricorne (an admiral's hat) - 2,500 Copper, 1,250 Silver, 625 Gold Doubloons
    • Anyone who said that the size of your hat doesn't matter must be wearing a bandana. Wearing it will increase your chance to get Doubloons by 30%.
