Overview

An unnatural darkness has descended upon this valley, and a restless wind groans through the trees. A lone Warforged stands beside the road, scanning the landscape.

Spoiler Warning: Spoiler material below this point!

Star Objectives

  • Rescue the Necromancer
  • Find a way into the old Matador settlement
  • Slay some minotaur skeletons (5)
  • Re-assassinate the Matador Chieftain
  • (Optional) Kill the Supreme Pumpkin

Note: You must complete all non-optional star objectives to receive experience & rewards from this Challenge.

Known Traps

Tips and Misc

  • Kill 40 minotaur skeletons to get bonus chest
    • It's possible to do this after completing the quest.
  • Kill 80 minotaur skeletons to get bonus 'Minotaur Annihilator's' chest
    • To complete this bonus objective, the entire village must be searched and every minotaur killed
    • Some minotaurs only appear when someone approaches their spawn point, so every location inside the village must be visited to ensure the full count
      • Note: there are 5 minotaur skeletons in the enclosure with the chieftain, so the objective will not complete before the end fight begins (the count should be at 75 minotaur skeletons slain if the village has been fully cleared before entering the enclosure)

Walkthrough

  • Speak to Dorris (A)
  • Head to the necromancer (B), to the west of Dorris
  • Continue west then south to the Pumpkin Grove to fight The Supreme Pumpkin (C, in swamp at south west of the map)
  • Either:
    • Use DDoor to return to Dorris (A) and follow the path to the east gate (E) of the village OR
    • Use the ballista (D) on the hill above the Supreme Pumpkin to fire the party across to near the east gate (E) of the village.
      • If the party enters the challenge at level 14 or lower, the ballista instead leads to F. A character that lands at F may be able to move away from the landing point and up to the final battle before any minotaur skeletons spawn.
      • Bug: The ballista has a small chance to drop characters inside the final boss arena. Note, however, that if the final boss is killed before somebody runs onto the stairs outside his arena, the objective to kill him never activates, and the quest cannot be completed. If you end up inside the final arena, it's advised somebody uses Dimension Door and goes to trigger the objective manually.
  • Kill the vines in front of the gate to open it.
  • Head to the Minotaur Chieftain's enclosure (F, at the south end of the village at the top of a ramp)
  • When the Chieftain arrives, the gate closes, trapping the party – Entry is allowed, but nobody may leave until the Chieftain is dead
    • There are enough Minotaur Skeletons (5) in the enclosure with the Chieftain to fulfil the "Slay some minotaur skeletons" star objective if the party reached the enclosure without slaying any Minotaur Skeletons
  • After the Chieftain is dead, the ballista (D) on the wall in the north east corner of the chieftain's enclosure (F) can take the party back to Dorris (A)
  • Speak to Dorris to complete the quest and collect the rewards
    • To receive the chests for killing all the minotaur skeletons, minotaurs can still be slain after all 5 stars are achieved but must be slain before speaking to Dorris

Loot

  • Chests: 5
    • 1 for killing the Supreme Pumpkin (behind tree near fight)
    • 1 in Chieftain's Enclosure, once the Chieftain is dead
    • 1 with Dorris at end
    • 1 bonus chest with Dorris at end, for killing 40 minotaur skeletons
    • 1 Minotaur Annihilator's bonus chest with Dorris at end, if the party kept on killing more minotaur skeletons until all 80 were dead (again)
