Green Steel: Extra Steps

From DDO wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Information[edit]

  • Green Steel weapons are considered Evil for means of bypassing damage reduction.
  • WARNING: You cannot equip more than one Green Steel Clothing Item at this time (Weapons do not count). Doing so will cause you to take 5d8 (5-40) damage every 2 seconds until you die. If you receive a Raise Dead, or Release your Soul, you will likely die almost immediately after coming back to life. This is due to the Taint of Shavarath on the item, which must be cleansed by an Essence of Cleansing. The Essence is only available as a 20th completion reward of the Raid. You can freely wear a single clothing item before obtaining an Essence.
    • Weapons are not bound by this rule and can be wielded freely.
  • Using an Essence of Cleansing on a Green Steel blank item will immediately bind the blank to that character.
  • Green Steel Accessories have a minimum level of 11 to be equipped; Green Steel Weapons have a minimum level of 12. As such, they are quite useful to those who undergo a True Reincarnation on their character.
  • Green Steel handwraps do not exist. See the Handwraps article for more, as well as Incredible Potential rings.
  • Since Update 14 some Exceptional bonuses have changed to Insight bonuses. The Green Steel Altars will now apply Insight bonuses however, the Shard descriptions on screen may show current Insight bonus as Exceptional bonuses. Insight bonuses do not stack. Previously crafted Green Steel items do not appear to have changed.
  • Update 19 changed the Exceptional bonuses to skills. The bonuses have been doubled however they no longer stack.

Recipes[edit]

If you make a mistake while upgrading your Green Steel Item, you will NOT be able to fix it. Be very careful when planning what effects you want to add to your item, and make sure you are adding the correct effect at each Altar. If you do make a mistake while creating a Green Steel Item, you can use Yellow Dopant to deconstruct said Green Steel Item at the Invasion, Subjugation, and Devastation altars since Update 14. Keep in mind that deconstruction will only return roughly half of the Ingredients required to make an item of the same tier.

Cleansing Ritual[edit]

An Essence of Cleansing is an extra shroud ingredient which you won't find in any chest inside the raid - it is a specific type of item given as a reward for completing 20 runs of the raid, its purpose is to allow the Taint of Shavarath to be removed from a Green Steel finished item in order to allow it to be worn at the same time as another Green Steel item without its wearer taking hit point damage.

You can wear as many Green Steel accessories as you wish but in order to negate the damage from the Taint of Shavarath you should cleanse them first.

Deconstruction[edit]

Green Steel deconstruction UI

If you do make a mistake while creating a Green Steel item (either a weapon or an accessory), you can use a Yellow Dopant to deconstruct the item at all three Green Steel altars: Invasion, Subjugation, and Devastation since U14. Keep in mind that deconstruction will only return roughly half of the ingredients required to make an item of the same tier.

WARNING: Be aware that when you deconstruct an item, THE ITEM IS DESTROYED. You will NOT get the base weapon or equipment back. You will only receive roughly half of the ingredients from the tier level from which you're beginning your deconstruction. So, for example, if you are deconstructing Tier 2 goggles, you will get some tier 2 ingredients, no tier 1 ingredients, and no goggles in return.

As from Update 14: Green Steel weapons, equipment, and shards can be deconstructed to gain back approximately half of the ingredients required to make an item of the same tier:

  • Deconstruction of Green Steel requires a Yellow Dopant, a rare drop from Shroud end chests. Higher difficulty levels provide more chests and a better chance to get a Yellow Dopant.
  • Deconstructing a cleaned Green Steel item using a Yellow Dopant returns an Essence of Cleansing.
  • Deconstructing a dual-shard allows you the choice of extra ingredients. For cleansed items with a dual shard, it is possible to instead select an Essence of Cleansing
  • Note that no Shards of Power or blank ingredients are returned, only tier 3/2/1 ingredients and the Shavarath Signet Stone.
  • Incredible Potential can be restored to Tower of Despair Rings, wiping the ring clean so that you can imbue it with different effects. This use of your Yellow Dopant does not return any ingredients.

As from Update 15: Yellow Dopant drop rates in the raids are comparable to each other, with increased chance on higher difficulties.
