Name: Jandul d'Jorasco

Race: Halfling

Gender: Female

Bestows Quest(s): Redwillow's Ruins

Affiliation(s): House Jorasco

Location: House Jorasco Enclave, south end of the enclave, in an alley next to the House of Wizardry

House Jorasco[edit]

If you try to talk to her while at level 3 or lower, she will reply:

  • Jandul d'Jorasco: Several ruins in the deepest jungles of Xen'drik have been overrun by giants and their minions, or so I have heard. I hope they do not start attacking our expeditions. Our diggers and artificers can't fight off such foes!

If you are at level 4 or higher, however, she will reply:

  • Jandul d'Jorasco: You look learned... or maybe strong... or crafty... anyway, you look capable enough to me! We, meaning House Jorasco, have a small problem. No—just a problem. Leave 'small' out of it. She wrings her hands nervously and tries to smile. Deep breaths... got to stay calm...
  • You: Easy, now. What worries you so?
  • Jandul d'Jorasco: Redwillow! Jandul blurts out, then blushes. Falcor Redwillow, a renowed archaeological scholar of Stormreach. He took twenty assistants and students into the jungle... and they have been lost!
  • You: Go on....
  • Jandul d'Jorasco: Redwillow is a great mind and a shining star among his people. When he told me he'd found a source of... material... that would multiply Jorasco's fortunes tenfold, I rejoiced. I spent a small fortune outfitting his expedition and gave him his choice of assistants. But something went terribly wrong. I don't know the whole story, but I've learned by magical means that he is surrounded by a tribe of goblinoids, deep in the jungle....
  • You: This sounds serious.
  • Jandul d'Jorasco: Redwillow's last message indicated that his camp was overrun in the night. Apparently, there are but a handful of survivors, and the material Redwillow wished to collect has been seized. I wish I could send Jorasco's own forces to rescue him... but...
  • You: Yes?
  • Jandul d'Jorasco: Redwillow made me promise to keep this expedition secret from my elders. He said the danger of losing the... materials... to an opposing House required us to act quietly. Now I cannot beg my House's help without disgracing us both. But neither can I allow Redwillow's treasure to reach enemy hands! I had hoped to recruit a free-lance to rescue Redwillow's expedition, but....
  • You: Nobody's had the nerve to try? I can handle this job, Jandul. Show me the way to Redwillow's dig.
  • Jandul d'Jorasco: Jandul sighs with relief. I will show you the way to the site. It is surprisingly close to Stormreach, but well-hidden, all the same. The jungle area he was investigating is supposedly quite large and I imagine holds many secrets for those willing to explore off the beaten path. May all the Host walk with you, and help you save Redwillow from harm!
  • You: If I can rescue your lost scholar, I will. (Bestow quest)

Talking to her after acquiring the quest, but before completion, will make she say:

  • Jandul d'Jorasco: Oh, do not waste further time talking to me. Hurry to Falcor's expedition and salvage what you can of his efforts! I still hope his reports were exaggerated, and that his assistants and guards can be saved....
  • You: I'm ready to go to Redwillow's ruins.

On completion of quest, she will congratulate you with the following:

  • Jandul d'Jorasco: Jandul looks to you with desperation in her eyes. Were you able to find Redwillow? Was the attack on his party as terrible as he said?
  • You: I'm afraid so. Falcor Redwillow found his treasure, and he will deliver it as promised. But most of his companions lie dead.
  • Jandul d'Jorasco: I might as well have killed them. How can I be glad of Falcor's success when it cost so many innocent lives? Jandul's eyes brim with tears. I am glad you were able to save Falcor Redwillow, and I am glad for my House that his profits were saved, too. But for the deaths of Falcor's party, I cannot forgive myself!
  • You: You should reserve some blame for Redwillow himself. I am convinced that he misled you into this scheme.
  • Jandul d'Jorasco: I understand now that Falcor Redwillow will never regret an adventure that increases his fame and fortune. I, therefore, shall regret it twice—once for myself, and once for Falcor's black heart. Speak to me no more of this.

After completing the quest and take the reward, if you talk to her again, she will reply:

  • Jandul d'Jorasco: You were brave to rescue Falcor Redwillow from his folly and my own. I know now that I was wrong to trust him as I did—and yet, thanks to your courage, House Jorasco will profit greatly and my errors will look like wisdom. If I were Falcor, I would probably call this a victory! But I am Jandul, and I can still see the blood of his murdered assistants on my hands.
