Affiliation(s): Coin Lords

Location: Korthos Village

Description: Kaja is at the village graveyard worrying about some weird wails coming from Heyton's family crypt, and asks you to check it out. She is probably the second person you see after leaving The Grotto. She is also one of many people around Korthos Village that will bestow tutorial quests.

Korthos Village[edit]

Before Heyton's Rest is bestowed:

  • Kaja Bauerdatter: I swear to Siberys, there's unholy wailing comin' from Heyton's Family Crypt.
  • Kaja Bauerdatter: No one wants to check on it, for fear of the Sahuagin and their croonies. But what could they want with Heyton's crypt?
  • Kaja Bauerdatter: Oh dear, why won't anyone go down there and see?!?
    • You: The Sahuagin may have cowed the village, but not me. I shall make sure their evil hasn't polluted the Heyton Crypt. (bestows Heyton's Rest quest)
      • Kaja Bauerdatter: You will? Oh, you're so brave!
    • You: Heyton Family Crypt? Shouldn't you talk to a Heyton about this?
      • Kaja Bauerdatter: My da used to tell me stories of the Heytons.
      • Kaja Bauerdatter: Hundreds of years ago when the Sahuagin first came, Bjorn Heyton fought 'em tooth and nail. And when he died, his children fought them. And when they died, their children fought them.
      • Kaja Bauerdatter: Oh, Lars... Lars Heyton was the last of them, and I was... well nevermind that. He's gone missing, and everyone thinks he's dead. But I know he's still alive. What if this wailing has something to do with it? You have to go and look!
        • You: Very well, if it'll ease your mind, I'll check out the Crypt for you. (bestows Heyton's Rest quest)
          • Kaja Bauerdatter: You will? Oh, you're so brave!

After Heyton's Rest is bestowed but before completion:

  • Kaja Bauerdatter: Have you gone inside Heyton's Family Crypt yet? The entrance is on the cliffside right here in the graveyard; you can't miss it. Please find out whats going on inside there!

After completion of Heyton's Rest but before taking reward:

After completion of Heyton's Rest and after taking reward:

  • Kaja Bauerdatter: I hope that Lars Heyton is well, wherever he is. At least you kept the Sahuagin from desecrating his family's crypt.
    • You: Has anything else happened since I cleared the crypt out?
      • Kaja Bauerdatter: Everything's been quiet since you stopped those horrible Sahuagin in Heyton's Crypt.
      • Kaja Bauerdatter: I'll make sure to mention your help to my da.
        • You: Repeat the Heyton's Rest quest. (see "I swear to Siberys..." above)

Notes on the name[edit]

Her name looks at first glance like a German sounding name. However, this isn't quite true.

Meanwhile the word "bauer" means "farmer" in German language (apart from that there also exists a verb "bauen", which means "building, making"), the second part "datter" has no real meaning in German language. However, there does exist the term "verdattert sein", which means "to be verdattert". The word "verdattert" is diffifult to translate ... it has a similar position in German language as the word "flabbergasted" has in the English language - and as far as I can tell, it means exactly the same !

So, her name could be translated as a "flabbergasted farmer".
