Talk:Combat Expertise

Ok, I started on this one, and already hit a question. Besides the fighter bonus feats cat, should this go in a Feats category, or would it more properly be a Class feats category? Just thought I'd get everything straight before modifying all of bonus ones and do as much as I can in one pass through them. I've already got my eye on the Feats page to move that into the category namespace, but I'm not sure if you have some bigger category scheme than just Feats and Fighter bonus feats. I think there should be categories Feats, Class feats, Racial feats, Metamagic feats, Fighter bonus feats, Active feats, Passive feats. That's all that comes to my mind right now, but there may be more. Note that Combat expertise is a generic feat, that is not restricted to the fighter in any way. -- Tihocan 13:04, February 20, 2006 (PST)
I'm confused why you pointed out that this feat isn't restricted to the fighter. Are any of the feats restricted to a certain class? I thought they were only restricted to a certain BAB, stat, ability to cast arcane/divine spells, etc. My plans for Combat expterise were to be categorized under Feats, Class feats, and Fighter bonus class feats. Let me know if I'm totally missing something here, and perhaps I'll just stick to categorizing the Fighter bonus feats... Dedridd 13:20, February 20, 2006 (PST)
I would just put it in Feats and also Fighter bonus feats. It doesnt need to be in class feats as it isnt a class feat. A class feat is something like the ranger bow strength damage or turning undead for a cleric. DDO treats them as feats, when in reality they are better classified as class abilities. It should be in fighter bonus feats though as that list is a subset of feats that a fighter is able to take with thier class ability. -- koolkat 13:39, February 20, 2006 (PST)
Ok, I think I misunderstood what was meant by Class feats in Tihocan's explanation. Dedridd 13:55, February 20, 2006 (PST)
Yup, koolkat said it all. The confusion comes from the notion of class feat that does not exist in PnP. By the way, I'm not sure how we want to do this, but we need to keep a page with the list of all feats that someone can choose from. This is important as it makes comparisons easier. So we may want not to over-categorize the feats (the subcategories active and passive feats may not be necessary). Tihocan 14:05, February 20, 2006 (PST)
I would like to keep the content of the Feats page around. I think that's a great list and summary all rolled into one, just like the Sorcerer   page. If we want to have a traditional, dynamic category page for the feats, then we could rename this current Feats page to 'Feat Summary' and link to it from the Feats  page as a see also note. Sounds good to me -- Tihocan 20:46, February 20, 2006 (PST)
