Rough idea for recording DDO sales

it seems like the DDO store regularly has 20% off many items, sometimes 25% or more, so I thought it might be helpful to record how often it happens, to help with someone on a tight budget, like F2P. This is the stuff that appears below the free sample of the week each week on the DDo store offers page here: http://www.ddo.com/en/store Elajna. • I basically mirror what Cru121 said. I have a couple suggestions for improvement also. First, most recent should certainly be on top; second, I would add a column for frequency of sale and base the table on the items discounted instead of the dates; third, and this may already have been planned by you, but list all the dates for that item to be on sale so more people see the spaces making it easier to find patterns. Basing the table on the item instead of the date will make the table kind of long, so it will likely have to be broken into pieces before too long (although listing them by combos each week would probably be longer). I'd be happy to help you work up a row table for this project to make it easier to manage and make the rows sortable in a table by most recent. Let me know. • I'm just collecting the raw data. I don't see it being ready to display for quite a while yet but if someone wants to think about how it could be arranged on the main page that's fine. Analysis of historical data

• So there seem to be roughly 12 sales groups that repeat about every 3 months, somewhat at random. These groups can change a little to add or subtract an item, and in one case to change it's sale from 25% to 20%. In some cases one item can appear in a couple of different sales groups. The creature companions sales group hasn't appeared for 25 weeks, so it may have been dropped, or the randomizer allows for long gaps. The smallest gap was 6 weeks (full distribution on record is 6,6,7,8,8,10,10,10,10,11,11,11,11,12,12,16,22) suggesting a group cannot be repeated within five weeks. One hypothesis is that each of the seven groups not on sale within the last 5 weeks has an equal chance of being picked. This would make an absence of 25 weeks reasonably likely (4.5% for a given group, and more like 50-50 for any of the 12 groups). Elajna (Contributions • Message) 22:30, March 15, 2015 (EDT)

• Special event sales haven't happened enough in the monitoring period to see any pattern. They happen perhaps 4-5 times a year with Christmas especially good. Deep discounts on some very nice items can happen, but not predictably. Elajna (Contributions • Message) 22:30, March 15, 2015 (EDT)
