While doing the quest called 'Redfang the Unruled', my party encountered Goliath, the Gargoyle.
While in 'Freeze-Mode', both his DR (Damage Reduction) and Regeneration capabilities were unmatched. I was completely unable to deal damage with my Warforged Barbarian ... until I started using Molin's Axe, the Greataxe you get in Korthos as a reward for the Collaborator-Quest.
Molin's Axe offers bonus damage against monstrous humanoids. It did not do normal damage against Goliath, but the Bonus Damage went through hir DR. It was the only way to damage it during Freeze-Mode. Even then, his regeneration covered it everytime I got 2 misses in a row. Still, it may be an indication that this particular Boss is considered to be a monstrous humanoid, as far as the game is concerned.
