Talk:Shield Mastery

What does this do exactly? Is this +2,3, or 4 shield bonus or does it actually reduce damage received? Sigil 14:32, January 1, 2012 (EST)

? It works as described. Reduces any physical damage you take by a percentage. It never provided a shield bonus.. It used to increase your damage reduction while blocking, but no longer does. Shade 16:49, January 1, 2012 (EST)
Perhaps a couple of examples on the page are in order.. Saying if you would normally take 52 points of damage from Shroud blades, wearing said shields with this feat you would only take 47/42/37 points of damage.. Also, does this reduction take place before or after any other types of DR? ShoeMaker 16:54, January 1, 2012 (EST)

Think that just may confuse people further.. Shroud blades are kinda a weird exception, not the rule.

The feats intended to just work as percentile damage reduction. Like absoprtion vs resist.. So it should apply before DR (tho i dunno, havent tested it). And thus not work versus slashing damage thats considered energy damage - like blade barrier. And pretty much thats how it works, it doesnt work against blade barrier.

The fact it works vs the shroud blades, yet regular DR doesn't is just a very strange exception, and imo a bug.

I figured as much but that kind of flat damage absorption seemed kind of high for a passive feat, which was why I asked. Although I remember now that physical damage in DDO tends not get that high per hit compared to other MMO's anyway. Sigil 19:12, January 2, 2012 (EST)
