Talk:Spell usefulness

A recurring question on the forums is, "What should my spell list be?" Instead of putting a guide on the forums, which only the original poster can edit, it would make more sense to put it here on the wiki. To implement this, I'm leaning towards putting an extra column on the class spell pages (e.g., Cleric spells) with commentary, but the tables here are already pretty wide, so maybe creating a separate page would be easier to use (but harder to maintain). I was thinking of a column ranking spells as scroll instead, must-slot, consider slotting, situational, and useless/swap out when higher level. Any thoughts? --Thalone (ContributionsMessage) 20:37, August 26, 2014 (EDT)

  • Perhaps create a new page, something similar to Skill usefulness, for example Spell usefulness. Add sections for each class as needed. If the topic becomes too long, we can always split it.--Cru121 (ContributionsMessage) 01:42, August 27, 2014 (EDT)
    • Arrighty. I've started the article at the suggested place. Hopefully some Druid/Bard experts will come along and populate those sections. If not I'll poke the mother forums and see if anyone will volunteer. --Thalone (ContributionsMessage) 23:29, August 29, 2014 (EDT)
  • A suggestion here might be to do a break down of the different play-styled. For example, a DC caster needs a completely different spell-set than a CC caster, vs a Shiradi, etc.
For example: I am currently playing a Palemaster. My spell-selections prioritized insta-kills, negative energy spells(since I have the highest spell power) and then "something to use when my target resists negative energy. In my case, I've chozen acid, since the fewest things resist both negative AND acid. — previous unsignedPlease sign posts using ~~~~ comment by Noamineo ( c |d| r| b) at 14:58, August 31, 2017 (UTC)
