Don't think we need multiple pages for the exact same item, its confusing[edit]

Do we really want multiple pages for the same item. EG: upgraded version, mod5 version.. etc. Just seems confusing to me. I mean most every named item these days is upgradeable in some form, we dont really need a page for each permutation. Plus it's twice the work for us, possible twice the work for the viewer, and twice the bandwidth, and will take a very long time given some of the items upgrades are crappy enough ppl dont want them, so getting a SS will be hard.

Anyways check out the examples and lets decide as a group whats best, cpl I did, single page:

vs multi page:

So from what I understand is:
  • Replace the previous version of item info with the current version. Avoids a new pages when a +, hitdie or enhancement was change every few updates (and upcoming weapon balance?).
  • Place the previous version with txt history and/or, link to older pic/item(s)history page, possibly in the notes section that mentions what it was once before.
  • Only make a "Upgraded" page if the item becomes poplar "useful" or to complex that it needs its own page, otherwise use link to view the appropriate page/section for needed information.

If that what I think you saying, I have no problem with it. Can't really obtain the older versions. As long as there was a history page of the item so I can walk into the bar and say back in my day this was the original Tyrzza's Bane and I have 2. Bladedge 16:44, December 12, 2011 (EST)

We do it for Epic items, Event items, Sentinels items, Nearly Finished items, and Suppressed Power items... I say we should stay with the established norm and do it for these too. ShoeMaker 17:23, January 1, 2012 (EST)

Don't see the connection. Epic items becomes ENTIRELY new items. So much so the game considers them seperate item even.. EG: You can carry both a twisted talisman and and epic one ,evne though they are both exclusive.. You may NOT carry an upgraded circle of hatred and a regular - they are the same item.

We don't list every possible combination or epic slotting on a seperate page. We don't show possible combinations of the altar of insanity upgrades.. If they are NOT new items, technically we don't list them in nearly every case.

And whats the point anyways? It's just wasting users time getting them to click thry. The new pages say LESS then the originals.. Just list the new effects, which are also alreayd listed on the old?

So we can have more pics? That is already proven it doesnt work, people just won't get us all the pics.. I mean look at the ion stones, which have been upgradeable for years. All we have for the majority of them are ugly blank pages because people just dont care about them or see the need. Reaver loot would end up the same, we'd get madstone boots and a few other popular ones, but hte majority would be left blank and ugly.

I mean sure, more is better. But a dozen blank pages with no pictures and no relevant data seems wasteful. Maybe if we had all the pics, we won't get them tho.

Personally prefer a "completed" section, which we now have sans i think 1 madstone shield pic.. Then ones that remains messy and incomplete for the next Xty--years because of some technicallity thats rather inconsistant.

And yea 2 to 1. → Shade 17:33, January 1, 2012 (EST)

I have actually been working on a full set of images for both versions.. It's taking me a while with the seemingly relatively low drop rate on seals. However, as I do get them, I'll be posting them to the wiki; as well as, to itemwiki.cubicleninja.. I have use for 85% of the GH items, and the other 15% I will do just for the sake of doing them, I'll be having "Left-over" seals at some point so why not? (I do guild runs, and before long, no-one will need any upgrades and they will be extras.) As far as Abbot gear goes, I don't often see Abbot runs on my server; when I do, they are often elitist runs and they only accept 1 or 2 people not in their static-group. I'm getting to the point where my guild is almost ready for near full guild runs of this, when I will be able to get those one at a time as well. Big Grin ShoeMaker 17:43, January 1, 2012 (EST)
