XP loss on death[edit]

If it dies, does it hurt your 0 Deaths dungeon XP bonus?--68.63.226.176 15:53, May 26, 2012 (EDT)

no, its a summoned creature, that you have no control over. Unlike a hireling.... which you have slightly more control over Yawgmoth ( IRCMessage ) 16:19, May 26, 2012 (EDT)

Purpose/Worthless?[edit]

CR 1 (up to CR 4)? So, all this really does is sniff out the hidden, right? And till it dies it takes some aggro, hopefully. What effect does Augment Summoning have on this spell and the higher level spells? What equivalent CR would it be with the A.S. feat? I notice that they are gone nearly immediately after summoning, as soon as i turn my eyes away they are dead. lol. And magic fang doesn't work on em. What good is magic fang then? (for rangers) ;>jamvaru (ContribsMessage) 02:47, September 5, 2016 (EDT)

See Augment Summoning to learn how does it help. For rangers, summons are usually useless for general combat, because they get the spell very late. Having Augment Summoning will not make your summons useful. It can make your hirelings a bit sturdier though, if you are using those. Druids get a bit more mileage out of summons, because they get the spells earlier, and they have buffs / enhancements that make them stronger. Even for druids, summon spells are usually considered very weak, particularly on higher levels. --Cru121 (ContribsMessage) 03:47, September 5, 2016 (EDT)
