Talk:Tempest enhancements

Am I reading this right. The Off-hand Tempest % doesn't increase from 10% at all??

You are wrong.

Deflect Arrows: You gain the benefits of the Deflect Arrows feat while dual wielding, knocking aside one incoming projectile that would have struck you every 6 seconds. You also gain an additional 10% chance to make off-hand attacks when dual wielding.

D'oh! didn't see that hidden away :). So we can still get 100% off-hand proc if we have the full TWF feat chain. Good. Thx

Unarmed Tempest[edit]

I did some testing to see which of the abilities labeled as "dual wielding" work when unarmed. Some do, some do not. It'd be useful to have this information on that page, but I'm not sure about the best way to integrate it. The text describing the abilities currently matches the in-game text, so I'm not sure that it's a good idea to litter it with "(and unarmed)" in several places. Any suggestions?

Works when unarmed:

  • Tempest: +10% off-hand
  • Deflect Arrows: +10% off-hand
  • Elaborate Parry: Melee Dual Wielding Attack
  • The Growing Storm: Melee Dual Wielding Attack
  • A Thousand Cuts: Melee Dual Wielding Attack
  • Dance of Death: Melee Dual Wielding Attack

Does not work when unarmed:

  • Shield of Whirling Steal: Shield bonus to AC
  • Whirling Blades: +1 to-hit and damage
  • Improved Parrying: +3/+6/+10 PRR

Untested:

  • Tempest: Dexterity to hit.
  • Graceful Death: Dexterity for damage.
  • Deflect Arrows: The benefits of the Deflect Arrows feat.
  • Whirlwind: +5% doublestrike
  • Dervish: "+25% chance to doublestrike with you off-hand when dual wielding." (I don't even know what that's supposed to mean)

Personally, I think the enhancement descriptions should match the in-game descriptions, except when it is bugged in some way (like giving it less or more than the described bonus). Further analysis can be provided in the respective enhancement page, like we have for Nothing Is Hidden.

Dance Of Death - As far as I can tell (as at U28.1), the increase in the number of enemies attacked only procs if your initial strike hits a target, otherwise nothing happens but the 15 sec cooldown starts. Propose the following text: Melee Dual Wielding Attack: Deals +1/+3/+5[W] damage. If this attack strikes a target, your basic attacks when dual wielding strike 2/3/4 targets per swing instead of one for 10 seconds.
