Addition of Tabs[edit]

I know that only myself and User:Taurolyon use this template at the moment, but i have been thinking about adding additional tabs and would like community input before making any further changes. My propsal is to add an Archive tab that will automatically add a header similar to what User:Technical_13 has on his talk page. I also would like to make the Archive tab optional. Add an optional parameter to the template and if left NULL would yield no archive tab, and if set (let's say to '1'), the archive tab would show. Thoughts? Input? -- Ague (Contribs • Message)

What exactly would this tab do? I suppose I could take some time to attempt to complete my current process (it is suppose to be automated so that it switches pages quarterly without any input from me manually changing the root to redirect to the correct place). I'm not saying that I'm opposed in any way... I am actually for this; however, for me to fully understand, a demo or example would work best. I would at that point be happy to make any needed changes to the pages in the MediaWiki namespace. With the combination of your 918 edits and your work to make some fairly substantial improvements via css & js to the site, I would also be happy to recommend you for a 90 day probational promotion to system operator (this would be enough for you to reach the six month editing requirement for the actual promotion) allowing you to modify the Mediawiki:*.css & Mediawiki:*.js as needed, if you are interested. -- ShoeMaker (Contributions Message) 15:49, April 27, 2012 (EDT)
I'll do a mock-up of it later tonight when I get home from work. There's not a whole lot i can do from work or from my phone. And as for the sysop offer, if it were to go through the proper procedures, IAW DDO_wiki:Administrators#Promotion_to_this_group, I would accept. -- Ague (ContributionsMessage) 16:08, April 27, 2012 (EDT)
I've made some modifications to outline a probational period for all administrators here. Please check them out and help me iron out any bugs before the nomination for this. I don't want a repeat of the questionable policy modifications in regards to the recent review of a certain unnamed person considering a demotion. I am fairly certain you understand. I prefer everything be in proper order before the process is started than to have to make last minute modifications (justifiable or otherwise) under the gun. Thank you. Q & A:[edit]

This page doesnt show the CSS code to actually use - I managed to find it by fiddling with URL's to see other members preference/appearance settings and so forth.

Plus its not a full set of instructions, I'm going to nag, nag & nag until its all clear and on the page hehe, I can't for the life of me presently work out how to have differing tab names other then the example as it always defaults to that and the example tab set is some kind of template. I mean - I'm pretty geeky but I can't just look & 'grasp' it.

Also what's the discussion on administrator probation doing here ?

Each page[edit]

Ague - Don't forget to mention in your tutorial that each 'page' also needs the tab code added to it as well in order for it to work and that each page must match to the personal USERtabs page they create - grab everything I've done out of Tech's's page bud - that'll flesh it all out - you edited it as I'm typing right now - heh, want me to finish it all off?; happy to and understand the process completely now. New Tabs Userguide[edit]

Agonshar - I wanted to provide this walk through as I now have my own wiki over at www.hitwiki.site and have been refining a tutorial with all of the information here at DDOwiki and what I have also worked out too.

Please take a look and see if you want to replace the main Template:UserTabs page with its content - personally I would just replace it as I have finished testing and I am satisfied that it is correct on all points.

I haven't placed the Nutshell template from DDOwiki ont he page but that would be the only requirement - and I didn't want to spend an hour copy/pasting my way through the depths of templates using templates using templates just to show it here when its here already!

Agonshar - And I forgot to add a link to the walk-through I wrote - rather clever huh!
