The Pit: 1st Furnace

You are met at the entrance by a large team of troglodytes.

Your goal here is to throw a switch located high up in the center of this chamber, which will reactivate the first furnace by trapping a fire elemental within a forcefield. If killed, the fire elemental will respawn, so although there’s not much point in killing it, it won’t hurt anything if you do.

Tip: Before you begin the ascent, look up. Amongst those pipes and catwalks up there, you may see a couple of the troglodytes that lie in wait for you. Kill them now with ranged weapons if you see them.

The ascent: Navigating the Pipes

To the right from the entrance is a door with a signal gem above it. It is locked. Later, when the furnace has been reactivated, a good jumper will have the option to continue higher amongst the pipes and catwalks to throw a switch that will unlock this door. Behind it are a shrine and chest.

Directly across the chamber from the entrance, there’s a valve on the floor by the wall. Turning it activates a blue crystal. Each of the 3 furnace rooms has one of these switches, all of which need to be activated in order to open the secret room where the Muckdoom may drop at the end of the quest. Go ahead and activate this one now.
