New official site[edit]

Havent been posting much because I have been busy but just wanted to let you guys know that the new official site, www.ddo.com has been updated. It now has a complete list of feets, enhancements, spells and other goodies. Might want to check it out. Big Gino 16:44, February 23, 2006 (EST)

Yeah, time to start copy / pasting! Note that the spell descriptions are still lacking though -- Tihocan 18:12, February 23, 2006 (EST)
Also becarful because the prereqs for feats are way off and they have included someof the feats for higher levels that arent in the game yet. Big Gino 08:12, February 24, 2006 (EST)

==Welcome, Big Gino!== (ditto by (post by Peerless - see his talk and contribs.))

Thanks for digging into the Wiki and adding some content! However, your notes at the bottom of the Barbarian page would be better placed on the Discussion page (see the tab at the top of the Barbarian page). Each Article has a Discussion page associated with it, and that's the place for any non-content comments that you'd like to leave concerning that Article. Please also sign any discussions using four tildes (~) so everyone knows who they're discussing things with. Also, don't be surprised if minor edits happen to your build suggestion for grammar or spelling. Sometimes things get edited in a major way (usually for the better), but I don't think you should have too much of a problem with a character build changing much in content.

You can edit this page if you want to ask a question, and someone will answer you here pretty quickly. Dedridd 06:15, February 7, 2006 (PST)

Yah we're fast like that - SHAZZAM! Anyway, sorry lol, randomnesss for the win. Yah, your entry will problem be what we call refactored (yes I know the link is broken, here for future reference when it isn't) (post by Peerless - see his talk and contribs.) 08:17, February 7, 2006 (PST)
Ok guys will do. Gonna take me a bit to get used to the different posting styles with the links and such. But Ill try and help out with whatever infor i can. I think im going to try and work on all the racial and or class feats avalable soon. Thats just me being greedy because i want to figure that stuff out for myself =) - Any suggestions on what I should try first, races or classes? And anyone know a good website that has some of that info? I found a couple, but most seem to be incomplete and I think Ill need to cross check a few of them for definitive answers. -- Big Gino 09:18, February 7, 2006 (PST)
Re-factored abit here, indent your replies with colons (-: Anyway, I suggest you just try to find the info out in-game if possible, because really we have already mostly surpassed the bounds of what other websites have - not that that's a bad thing! Go find out info somehow or other, perhaps ask on the forums, and get it merged into the content base - that's how we do it (-: (post by Peerless - see his talk and contribs.) 09:22, February 7, 2006 (PST)
Damn you are quick!! Would love to do it in game but my pass ran out yesterday. I guess im gonna have to hit up the forums then for any info. -- Big Gino 08:31, February 7, 2006
Wiki pwn. Remember that always. Lol. (post by Peerless - see his talk and contribs.) 09:33, February 7, 2006 (PST)
Just a heads-up in case you didn't know - there's a stress test starting tonight that can earn you a few extra days of beta access. I plan on trying to gather some more info from the game to fill out some pages here. Check out the top entry at http://www.ddo.com for details. Dedridd 09:41, February 7, 2006 (PST)
Hard to count those: I forgot about that, actualy got a password and to get in that from a friend who isnt using it. Let me know what to keep an eye out for, would love to help out. -- Big Gino 08:45, February 7, 2006
Make sure to sign your posts with four tildes, so we know who is who (-: I've been adding your signatures lol (post by Peerless - see his talk and contribs.) 09:47, February 7, 2006 (PST)
Big Gino 09:55, February 7, 2006 (PST) Loud and clear
ROFL On the OTHER side of your posts... but that's just nitpicking. Hey! Check out our new friggin LICENSE dude! Just finished it, so friggin awesome I love CC! (-: (post by Peerless - see his talk and contribs.) 09:57, February 7, 2006 (PST)

Ok, got myslef ready to sign up for the stress test tonight. Gonna play with a human barbarian and mosh out levels so i can get all the information available as far as human and barbarian feats and enhancemnets are concerned. Any thing else i should be looking into? Big Gino 10:40, February 7, 2006 (PST) <=Hows that?
Also if you guys are going to be hanging out together during the stress test let me know, I will try and get together with you all Big Gino 10:53, February 7, 2006 (PST)
OK, Pretend this is indented past the last one, but that indentation was getting ridiculous. I personally don't even have the beta, nor will I probably be playing any of the games our sites cover, sadly enough. But I think a Wiki Guild may be in order in each of the games. See Wiki Guild here on DDO for the DDO wiki guild - sound like a good idea to you all? Gino, care to be Guild Master? (post by Peerless - see his talk and contribs.) 11:11, February 7, 2006 (PST)
Told you those :'s were hard to count. Sure, I dont mind leadership especialy for a 2 day beta since there wont be enough time for any issues to develop. When the game goes live I have friends comming over that I will be guilded with, but can always run an alt in the Wiki Guild. I can try to sign up as close to 8 as possible to pcik a server if theres going to be more than one. Will Post some of this stuff over on that guild link Big Gino 11:32, February 7, 2006 (PST)

Item Templates[edit]

(I'm posting this here instead of in the Talk:The_Lost_Seekers page). I can help you with the template. I think we'll have to create a template for each of the item types (like shields, weapons, armor, etc). This is because they each have some data fields that the others don't. For instance, the shield you entered has data fields like Type, Damage Reduction, Shield bonus, and Armor Check Penalty that won't make sense for weapons, while weapons have data fields like Damage, Crit Range, etc. that won't make sense for armors. You've entered a shield and a weapon - have you run across a special armor piece yet that you can enter information for? If so, then I can create a simple template for each for you to get started with, and then you can tweak as you go. Dedridd 06:20, February 10, 2006 (PST)

By the way, I changed the spelling on the Interrogator's Shield to make it the correct way to spell that word - but then I noticed it was a kobold item, and am wondering if the devs intentionally misspelled it? Can you confirm, please? Dedridd 06:20, February 10, 2006 (PST)
Ok, I have screenshots of all the items listed as rewards on The Lost Seekers rewards list. Armor, weapons, shields, jewelery, docent, and accesories so should be able to get one going for each one. I can also check the spelling to be sure. Probable wont get to updating all of this stuff untill saturday or sunday because I want to spend as much time playing as possible before my stress test runs out. Big Gino 06:46, February 10, 2006 (PST)
oops didnt see the discussion had moved to here. Get as high as you can in the stresstest to check if the +2 human enhancements are real or fake. We can make templates here and then fill in needed fields later. Which ones do you want to do dedridd? I am thinking we will need Template:itemshield Template:itemarmor Template:itemweapon Template:itemmisc and possibly Template:itemwand and Template:itempotion (and I also started a place where the templates are all linked so it is easy to edit neat huh. -- koolkat 07:45, February 10, 2006 (PST)
I think those should be plenty to start with. Get some examples in place, and that should make it easy for people to duplicate as needed. The spell pages use SpellDescription as the template name - do we want to use a similar naming convention? And what's the name of the template linking page? I always went in through Special:Allpages, then selected Template in the namespace drop down, but would love something easier. Dedridd 08:02, February 10, 2006 (PST)
I dont know how to get to templates any other way. I just make a dead link to them somewhere and then edit it from that. I think it is ok to go with two conventions one for spells and one for items. The spells one really should be such a long name, in my opinion, so that is why I made these names simpler. Just item followed by the type of item you are making. -- koolkat 08:25, February 10, 2006 (PST)
There needs to be a global template for items - how to do it, however, I don't have time to, you will have to figure out. SHouldn't be to hard with conditionals and parameters - especially if xevo gets defaults working. (post by Peerless - see his talk and contribs.) 10:16, February 10, 2006 (PST)
Conditionals??? Those work? Or are you teasing me? I was under the assumption that when you told me I read too far into the Templates Help that conditionals were also something that weren't supported in the version of the wiki codebase we're using. If we don't have conditionals, then I don't think defaults would be enough to combine all these different item types into a global item template (should Xevo triumph on defaults). Either that, or I need enlightenment! Dedridd 10:45, February 10, 2006 (PST)
The wiki holds many secrets. Even I know them not - probably only Xevo knows everything the wiki can and cannot do, althout for that matter I doubt he knows half of what I do - the problem is that I also know less than half of what he does. I expect between us, we know a total of one half of the Way of the Wiki. That's three halves... but only in one halves... I think... I am confused. (post by Peerless - see his talk and contribs.) 10:48, February 10, 2006 (PST)
You sound like you need a Wikivacation, Peerless. :b Dedridd 10:55, February 10, 2006 (PST)
Hey guys nice work on everything so far. The stress test ends tonight so im logging in now and not leaving till they kick me out. Ill take screen shots of anything interesting i come across Big Gino 12:09, February 10, 2006 (PST)
Or Not servers down=( i hope they fix it soon or give me another day of fun. Is it possible to move some of the crp up there ^ somewhere else or just delete it? Big Gino 12:17, February 10, 2006 (PST)
That indentation was just absurd, pretend this is way far in too (-: - as for the earlier conversation, I'll archive it later (-: (post by Peerless - see his talk and contribs.) 12:18, February 10, 2006 (PST)
Ok, gonna put up an accesory so whoever was making the temlates can do that and then ill put in the armor. Big Gino Doh, armor template not there either, wanna do that one first, ill do mic cause that should be easier. Big Gino 12:45, February 10, 2006 (PST)
Cool put up one example of a miscelanous and one example of armor and Ill make the templates, and templatize that example. -- koolkat 12:46, February 10, 2006 (PST)

Just noticed you had created catetgories like :Category:Level_2 for items with min level: I'm not sure the name is well chosen, something like Category:Items_Level_2 or Category:Items_L2 or Category:Level_2_items or Category:L2_items would seem better to me (or replacing items by equipment, or anything that says what it is) -- Tihocan 11:15, February 11, 2006 (PST)

Btw we need to decide on whether to put an s or not in categories. Spell categories have a s (Spells, Cleric Spells, etc.) while it looks like item categories have been started without an s (Base_item, Light_armor, etc.). We need to maintain some consistency. -- Tihocan 11:18, February 11, 2006 (PST)
That category was already listed when someone made the item templates for me earlier I just added some text to the page. I also think for consistancy we should determine what we are gonna call slots. Like belt or waist and make it the same throughout. Im gonna be playing the game as much as possible untill this test is over so Ill be back to help clean some of that up in a couple days. Big Gino 11:56, February 11, 2006 (PST)
So would minlevel 2 be better. As it stands now the template automatically categorizes it, and it will be very easy to change. It pulls the number from the data entered into the template and works from there. check it out at template:itemweapon -- koolkat 12:03, February 11, 2006 (PST)
I'd like something that says it's an item. Just "minlevel2" could apply to, say, quests for instance. That's why I suggested names with "Item" in them. -- Tihocan 13:04, February 11, 2006 (PST)
I reply to the comment about pluralization - categories are the opposite of normal pages, almost always pluralized. This is mainly for differentation purposes: the page Wizard spells should be a redirect to Category:Wizard spells, whereas Wizard spell is information about a wizard's spellcasting ability and how their spells work. Make sense? SOmebody add to the FAQ please, that's the 4th time I've seen that question, thanks. Probably the FAQ instead of the DDOwiki FAQ, although it can go in both. [:: ℑilver§ℑide ::] 17:21, February 11, 2006 (PST)
Ok thanks Silver. I'll make sure everything follows these conventions at some point in the future -- Tihocan 07:49, February 13, 2006 (PST)
