new wikify templates, very annoying[edit]

who added bunch of these to content subpages (/... pages) without checking inclusion? so annoying. i dont think {{underlinked }} and some others are so unnecessary for this wiki. i just fixed the Night Revels page but i'm sure you broke many others. was it done by auto-wiki editor or something? where can i find admin discussion page for these? oh, gwad, so poorly done. very annoying. --yoko5000 (ContribsMessage) 01:09, February 4, 2016 (EST)

  • I tend to agree about these changes being poorly thought out. At the very least such a major change should have been put up for discussion first. As far as where to discuss it, the maintenance template category talk might be as good as any. The templates in that category are the ones that were added to all the pages. - Susalona (ContribsMessage) 01:35, February 4, 2016 (EST)
  • DDO:AN/P#Maintenance tags is the explanation of the project. No, the tags don't need to stay on those pages, but I had it tag them all anyways so that we (I) could go through on a focused attack now while I have a little time and throw {{ Nobots | date={{SUBST:#time:F Y}} }} on them. All that needs to be done when you find those pages is "undo" the change and add that template to the top of the page (possibly inside of <noinclude>...</noinclude> tags like <noinclude>{{ Nobots | date={{SUBST:#time:F Y}} }}</noinclude>) and those pages won't be tagged again in the future. Template replacements[edit]

The changes that replaced T:Quests by level heroic table row and T:Quests by level epic table row with T:Quests for level completely broke all the pages that used them. As an example: [1]

The edit summary was "Two templates replaced with one.". The 2 templates display different xp values for each quest (heroic or epic). While merging the 2 templates into 1 would seem like an easy thing to do, there would need to be a way to distinguish which values (heroic or epic), you need each time. And to do that, you would need to pass a parameter to the phantom template, which is almost impossible to do. The simplest and best solution was to make 2 templates.

As a bot, you have even more responsibility to make sure the changes don't break things. Faltout (ContribsMessage) 14:58, July 13, 2018 (EDT)

Starting a Favored Soul (Posted by Slicercore as a request)[edit]

Disclaimer: The Only reason I'm posting this is because I am not able to edit the "Starting a Favored Soul" page myself, and noticed the following issue. I'm also new to the wiki page, so please let me know if I'm doing anything wrong.

The descriptions for the Wisdom and Charisma under the "Stats" section should be edited so that it reads the following.

Wisdom/Charisma - Primary stat for an offensive caster, who will start with maximum score. Higher score means that the mobs save against your spells less often. And for each two points you will gain 29 spell points. A minimum of 19, after items and enhancements, is needed to cast level 9 divine spells. Starting with 12-14 is common, since +6 enhancement items can be acquired easily.

-*Note: Wisdom and Charisma are interchangeable as a Favored Soul.*

Or add something similar to that effect, because the Starting a Favored Soul page at the moment makes it seems as though Wisdom is need as a Favored Soul and that is not the case, or at least does not seem to be with the testing I did. It just seems that this information is incorrect, because it is saying that Wisdom is what determines DC's, and Charisma determines Spell point bonuses, but the testing that I did (explained below) seems to show that Wisdom OR Charisma boost DC's and Spell Points, depending on which is higher. Either way, you have been a great help to this wikipedia, and I commend you for your amazing contributions.

TEST

I went on to the Dragonborn race(32 point build) and did the following. 1-Added point to Wis and Cha so their scores where 18 and 20 respectively and recorded the value in the "Spell Points" area.

2-Added all skill points to concentration and selected the feats "Empower Healing", "Draconic Ancestry: Blue", and "Follower of Aureon"

3-Viewed the spell "Bane" and recorded the "Save: <Number> (Will)"

4-Went back to the "Assign your Ability Points" section of the character selcecion

5-Removed all points from Cha and added them to Str (So Str is 20, Wis is 18, and Cha is 10)

6-Repeated Steps 2 and 3
