Death Knight sub-race

A typical death knight

Death Knights are Human race monsters. Unlike most Humans, they are Undead type.

Description[edit]

When a paladin falls spectacularly from grace and irrevocably breaks their sacred oath, they may be cursed with existence as a death knight, an undead creature denied even the sanctity of death. While some death knights are noble figures that seek to redeem themselves for their past misdeeds, many become bitter, twisted versions of their former selves, waging an endless crusade against the living that they blame for their fall.

(In DDO, Death Knights are typed somewhat oddly as Undead versions of Humans, rather than a specific version of Undead as in pen-and-paper D&D. The exception is Dagan, who is instead treated as a Skeleton, perhaps because the lore of Thunderholme specifically identifies Dagan as a Dwarf.)

Combat[edit]

Qualities[edit]

Death Knights can be somewhat inconsistent with which of the standard Undead type traits they possess (some can be healed by positive energy, some cannot be turned and soforth), but all of them are immune to negative damage and being Charmed.
