How to avoid inheritance of the transcluded items categories? Balacertar (ContributionsMessage) 21:33, April 12, 2014 (EDT)

  • Many of the item description templates transclude categories when they are used on pages in the item namespace. I don't think there is a way to avoid this. If no one else responds, try asking ShoeMaker (Contribs • Message) or one the other DDO wiki:Administrators. -- Zav (ContributionsMessage) 00:27, April 13, 2014 (EDT)
  • Please be more specific. I don't understand the question. ShoeMaker (Contributions Message) 00:45, April 13, 2014 (EDT)
  • Balacertar wants to know if there is a way to not have categories transcluded when item description templates are used on a page in the item namespace. Say for the case of Eerie Scarab Powder, most of the categories transcluded are from other items listed on the page and not Eerie Scarab Powder itself, so he doesn't want them to show up as they don't apply to Eerie Scarab Powder. -- Zav (ContributionsMessage) 01:17, April 13, 2014 (EDT)
  • Thanks Zav! One posible solution would be that ingredients, collectables and the like, use a different namespace, say it Token, Part, ContainableItem or whatever we find it is best, instead of Item. We can leave Item for objects you can equip, while using the other namespace for objects that are holdable into a bag or similar container. That way they will not automatically be included in the Bind categories or those categories of objects we transclude into the ingredient page. Transclusion of item descriptions as in Eerie Scarab Powder is useful to easily explain what can be obtained from those ingredients while keeping it easily to maintain. I understand that is a major change and some consensus will be needed, but in my opinion that will contribute to maintain tidy the item categories.
