Talk:Lava Caves: Colossal Crystals

From DDO wiki

Now that the progenitor crystals can fit through teleports in power circles, is this quest still "Difficult" for soloing? I almost never fail it, and just now scored two progenitor crystals in one run. I've been running it with a melee toon (Monk/Ranger/Rogue) and a Favored Soul hireling.

Yea. Far more difficult then most, thus the rating. Sure experienced players can do well in it, but for the average player, it's by far the hardest and very infrequently ran. Can easily tell this by taking a look a the leaderboards.. Very few high entries in it, and less entries overall then the other lava caves. And think about your first times through also.. It's a far more complex one to learn, most everyone took several attempts to win it, where as most other challenge can be won on your very first try given some skill.

The teleporter and AI fixes made it a lot more bearable, but they didn't really affect the main things that make it difficult imo:

  • Random elements that take a long term to learn and adapt to overcome
  • Many monster that must be killed once a progentior is acquired (versus say buying time or time is money, both of which can be completed without killing a single enemy).
