Template talk:Pattern

From DDO wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Are you guys sure the usage of a template is good here?

From my point of view, if the user sees style="background: pink" he's going to understand pretty quick that this is what's making the cell pink. However, if he sees style="background:pink" | well he's going to have more trouble figuring that out.

Honestly, the only use I see in such a pattern is if we want to change the chosen color in a heartbeat... but that is not very important.:p Maybe with better template name it'd be better, but with the current naming, more of a nuisance than anything. If we apply template name, I'd go with clearer (but sadly longer) naming. Maybe like:

  • Confirmed weapon
  • Confirmed accessory
  • Unconfirmed (or Deduced from pattern)

Longer? Yeah, however like that a new user will understand the whole better. The templates, as they are currently implemented, just add another layer of foreknowledge and just because a nuisance to the purpose of the wiki. Another alternative would be a tempalte called confirmed and another unconfirmed. Then, we could put a switch for either weapon or accessory and then the place to put the text. Something looking like this: {{confirmed|weapon|Good Burst}}.

So, whatdaya think? --Borror0 09:25, February 20, 2008 (EST)Borror0
