Gender: Female

Receives Quest(s): Tutorial: How to advance your character

Location: Korthos Village

Notes: Kimber is standing guard at the gate barricade near the entrance to the Korthos Island wilderness area. Besides being a ranger class trainer, Kimber can also bestow quests in the Korthos tutorial quest series. There is one class trainer of every class residing in Korthos Village.
If you are a Druid or Artificer, Kimber will not bestow any of the Korthos tutorial quests.

Korthos Village[edit]

If you have not talked to your Class Trainer, you are a Druid or Artificer, or if there is no quest available in the Korthos tutorial quest series:

  • Kimber Cotely: The jungles of this continent hold many secrets. Should you desire to train as a ranger, I can teach you some of them.
    • You: Spend action points on enhancements.
      • Kimber Cotely: (if you have no Ranger levels) Hmmph. I don't have time to talk to greenhorns. You wouldn't last three days in Khyber without a ranger there to hold your hand.
      • Kimber Cotely: (if you have at least one Ranger level) (open Enhancement Panel)
    • You: Advance to the next level as a ranger.
      • Kimber Cotely: (if you have no Ranger levels) Are you certain that you wish to multiclass into the ranger class? If you are currently on a path, you will leave it by doing so.
        • You: Yes, I still wish to train with you.
          • Kimber Cotely: (if your wisdom is less than 14) I must warn you that your wisdom is too low to cast the highest level ranger spells. You need an wisdom of at least 14 to cast 4th level ranger spells, though you do have some time until it becomes an issue. Do you still wish to train?
            • You: Yes, I still wish to train with you.
              • Kimber Cotely: (if you don't have enough XP to level up) You do not have enough experience to advance.
              • Kimber Cotely: (if you have enough XP to level up) (open Advancement UI)
            • You: No, you are right. I will choose another class. (ends conversation)
          • Kimber Cotely: (if you don't have enough XP to level up) You do not have enough experience to advance.
          • Kimber Cotely: (if you have enough XP to level up) (open Advancement UI)
        • You: No, you are right. I will choose another class. (ends conversation)
      • Kimber Cotely: (if you don't have enough XP to level up) You do not have enough experience to advance.
      • Kimber Cotely: (if you have enough XP to level up) (open Advancement UI)
    • You: Reset your enhancements.
      • Kimber Cotely: (if you have no Ranger levels) Hmmph. I don't have time to talk to greenhorns. You wouldn't last three days in Khyber without a ranger there to hold your hand.
      • Kimber Cotely: (if you have at least one Ranger level) You can reset your enhancements in any public area by opening up your Enhancement Panel (Ctrl-R) and choose to Reset Tree or Reset All Trees.
    • You: Ask for Ranger advice.
      • Kimber Cotely: Born to roam the wilds, rangers are agile swordsmen, master shots with a bow, and experts in healing with animals and beasts. What else do you want to know?
        • You: What kind of armor should a ranger wear?
          • Kimber Cotely: Rangers should wear a chain shirt or other light armor. Rangers find medium and heavy armor too cumbersome to be useful.
            • You: What weapons should a ranger use? (see below)
            • You: Tell me about the Wild Empathy ability. (see below)
            • You: Can rangers cast spells? (see below)
            • You: I would like to train now. (see "The jungles of this continent..." above)
        • You: What weapons should a ranger use?
          • Kimber Cotely: Rangers are experts at ranged combat, and most prefer a longbow for ranged attacks. Rangers can use any simple or martial weapon - a longsword or a rapier, for example. If you are at least level two and often find yourself in melee combat, consider wielding two weapons at once. Rangers automatically receive the Two Weapon Fighting feat at level two.
            • You: What kind of armor should a ranger wear? (see above)
            • You: Tell me about the Wild Empathy ability. (see below)
            • You: Can rangers cast spells? (see below)
            • You: I would like to train now. (see "The jungles of this continent..." above)
        • You: Tell me about the Wild Empathy ability.
          • Kimber Cotely: Use your Wild Empathy ability on an animal or beast. It will lower the animal's aggression, effectively mesmerizing them. Note, however, that this has no effect on creatures that are not animals or beasts.
            • You: What kind of armor should a ranger wear? (see above)
            • You: What weapons should a ranger use? (see above)
            • You: Can rangers cast spells? (see below)
            • You: I would like to train now. (see "The jungles of this continent..." above)
        • You: Can rangers cast spells?
          • Kimber Cotely: Rangers begin to receive spells at level four. One of the spells they receive is the Nature's Ally spell. This allows a ranger to summon an animal as an ally for a brief time.
            • You: What kind of armor should a ranger wear? (see above)
            • You: What weapons should a ranger use? (see above)
            • You: Tell me about the Wild Empathy ability. (see above)
            • You: I would like to train now. (see "The jungles of this continent..." above)

If you have talked to your class trainer, are not a Druid or Artificer, and have a quest available in the Korthos tutorial quest series:

  • Kimber Cotely: We cannot predict when the Devourer cult will strike. Be on guard.
    • You: I would like to use your services. (see "The jungles of this continent..." above)
